This Is The Older, Lighter One

Worth saying at the top rather than burying it, because the Holosun ARO Green Multi Reticle is not the current model. Holosun has replaced the plain ARO line with the ARO EVO, and this is the earlier sight. That is not a reason to avoid it, but it is a reason to understand what you are choosing.

The ARO EVO has a larger window at 1.02 inches against 0.86, adds solar backing behind the battery, and offers four night vision brightness settings rather than two. In exchange it weighs 4.3 ounces plus its mount, where the Holosun ARO Green Multi Reticle is 3.38 ounces. So the newer sight is bigger and better equipped; the older one is lighter and simpler. On a build where weight has been argued over, that is a real argument in the older sight favour.

Half MOA Clicks And Fifty MOA Of Travel

Adjustments on the Holosun ARO Green Multi Reticle move 0.5 MOA per click, where the category standard is 1 MOA. At a hundred yards each click shifts your impact half an inch, which means you can walk a group onto the bull rather than watch it hop from one side to the other.

Fifty MOA of total travel in each direction is generous enough for any sane mount height, including the taller ones people use to get a co witness on an AR. Paired with a 2 MOA dot fine enough that the reticle is not the limiting factor in your group, this is a sight you can genuinely zero rather than approximately zero.

The 65 MOA Circle Does Two Jobs

Close in the ring on the Holosun ARO Green Multi Reticle is the fastest aiming device on the optic. At ten feet nobody is using a 2 MOA dot; you want something your eye cannot miss, and a 65 MOA circle is exactly that. Put the target inside the ring and press.

At distance it measures. Sixty five MOA subtends about sixty eight inches at a hundred yards, so a target of known size filling a known fraction of the ring tells you roughly how far away it is. You can also run the Holosun ARO Green Multi Reticle as a bare 2 MOA dot or a bare circle; all three come from the same emitter, so switching never moves your point of impact.

Green On A Rifle

Human daylight vision peaks almost exactly at 540nm, so the green reticle on the Holosun ARO Green Multi Reticle reads brighter to your eye than a red one producing the same actual light. That matters on a rifle more than on a pistol, because of where rifles get pointed.

A pistol is usually shot on a range, at paper or steel, against a backdrop somebody chose. A rifle gets shot at brush, timber, dirt berms, tan steel and cover, which is exactly the family of warm mid tone backgrounds that swallow a red dot. The honest other half: against grass, foliage and green painted steel, green is the colour that loses and red would serve you better.

MAO Finish And IP67

The Holosun ARO Green Multi Reticle body is aluminum finished in MAO, micro arc oxidation, rather than ordinary anodising. MAO grows a harder and more corrosion resistant surface, which is what belongs on a housing expected to be knocked about rather than admired.

The Holosun ARO Green Multi Reticle is rated IP67 for dust and immersion and tested to 1000G of vibration, with a CR2032 rated at 50,000 hours. Shake Awake sleeps the Holosun ARO Green Multi Reticle when the rifle is still and wakes it on movement, so the practical runtime is far longer than continuous use would suggest. Ten daylight brightness settings and two night vision settings. Both mount heights, 1.63 inch and 1.05 inch, come in the box.
