Description
The Holosun ARO Gold 2 MOA is the original ARO rifle sight with a gold reticle: one 2 MOA dot at 590nm, half MOA adjustment clicks, an MAO finished aluminum body at 3.38 ounces. Part ARO-GD2.

Gold Is Rare And On A Rifle It Earns It
Almost nobody builds a reticle in gold the way the Holosun ARO Gold 2 MOA does. Red is cheap and efficient, green is what the eye is most sensitive to, and those two split the market between them. Gold at 590nm sits between the pair and solves a problem neither of them does.
Red disappears into brick, rust, timber, brown leaves and dead grass. Green disappears into live grass, foliage and green painted steel. Those are the two families of colour a rifle actually gets pointed at, which is why so many shooters end up frustrated with whichever one they bought. The Holosun ARO Gold 2 MOA belongs to neither, so it keeps separation in exactly the conditions that defeat the other two.
This Is The Older, Lighter Sight
Worth saying plainly rather than burying it. Holosun has replaced the plain ARO line with the ARO EVO, so the Holosun ARO Gold 2 MOA is the earlier design. That is not a reason to avoid it, but it is a reason to know what you are choosing.
The EVO has a larger window than the Holosun ARO Gold 2 MOA at 1.02 inches against 0.86, adds solar backing behind the battery, and offers four night vision brightness settings rather than two. In exchange it weighs 4.3 ounces plus its mount where this one is 3.38 ounces all in. So the newer sight is bigger and better equipped, and the older one is nearly an ounce lighter and simpler. On a build where weight has genuinely been argued over, that is a real point in the older sight favour.
Half MOA Clicks On A 2 MOA Dot
Adjustments on the Holosun ARO Gold 2 MOA move 0.5 MOA per click, where the category standard is 1 MOA. Nobody advertises this and it is the number that decides whether you can genuinely zero a rifle or merely get close to it.
At a hundred yards each click shifts your impact half an inch. Paired with a 2 MOA dot fine enough that the reticle is not the limiting factor in your group, you can walk a group onto the bull rather than watch it hop across it. Fifty MOA of total travel in each direction is enough range for any sane mount height.
A Bare Dot, Deliberately
Holosun sells the same ARO housing as the Holosun ARO Gold 2 MOA with a 65 MOA circle around the dot. That version is easier to pick up close in, and if most of your shooting happens inside twenty five yards it is the better buy.
The Holosun ARO Gold 2 MOA is the opposite choice. One small dot, nothing else in the glass, nothing arriving before it on a transition and no menu to learn or change by accident. For a rifle shot at deliberate pace, or one that will sit behind a magnifier where a circle becomes clutter, a clean window is worth more than a clever one.
MAO Finish, IP67, 1000G
The Holosun ARO Gold 2 MOA body is aluminum finished in MAO, micro arc oxidation, rather than ordinary anodising. MAO grows a harder and more corrosion resistant surface, which is what belongs on a housing expected to be knocked about rather than admired.
The Holosun ARO Gold 2 MOA is rated IP67 for dust and immersion and tested to 1000G of vibration, running a CR2032 rated at 50,000 hours. Shake Awake sleeps the sight when the rifle is still and wakes it on movement, so practical runtime is far longer than continuous use would suggest. Ten daylight brightness settings and two night vision settings, in a body measuring 2.48 by 1.54 by 2.63 inches.
