Description
The Holosun ARO EVO Gold 2 MOA is the plain dot member of the ARO EVO family: an enclosed 26mm rifle optic with a single 2 MOA gold reticle, half MOA adjustment clicks, solar failsafe and both mounting heights supplied. Part ARO-EVO-GD-2.

Half MOA Clicks On A 2 MOA Dot
This is the specification that separates the Holosun ARO EVO Gold 2 MOA from most red dots and almost nobody mentions it. Adjustments move 0.5 MOA per click, not the 1 MOA that is standard across the category.
Pair that with a 2 MOA reticle and you have a sight you can genuinely zero rather than approximate. At a hundred yards each click moves your impact half an inch, so you can walk a group onto the bull instead of watching it hop past. The Holosun ARO EVO Gold 2 MOA is built for someone who cares where the rounds land, not merely that they land somewhere in the circle.
Why A Bare Dot Instead Of The SPR Reticle
Holosun sells the same housing as the Holosun ARO EVO Gold 2 MOA with a Special Purpose Reticle: holdovers, a 65 MOA circle, ranging references. It is an excellent tool if you shoot at known distances and learn the subtensions.
The Holosun ARO EVO Gold 2 MOA is for everyone else. If your rifle lives inside two hundred yards, the holdovers never get used and the circle is just something else in the glass. A single small dot is the cleanest sight picture there is, nothing arrives before it on a transition, and there is no menu to learn. Simplicity is a feature when the complexity was never going to earn its keep.
Magnifier Compatible, And That Is Where 2 MOA Pays
The Holosun ARO EVO Gold 2 MOA housing is sized to sit in front of a flip to side magnifier, and this is where the small dot stops being a preference and becomes the right answer. Behind 3x magnification a 6 MOA dot covers as much of the target as an 18 MOA dot would at 1x, which throws away most of what the magnifier gave you.
A 2 MOA dot stays a 2 MOA dot, subtending the same angle whatever sits behind it, so the Holosun ARO EVO Gold 2 MOA keeps its precision when you flip a magnifier into place. If a magnifier is anywhere in your plan for the rifle, choose the small dot now rather than discovering the problem later.
Gold At 590 Nanometres On A Rifle
Rifles get pointed at green and brown things. Grass, brush, timber, dirt berms, tan steel. Green reticles wash into the first, red reticles into the second, and a small dot has less area to be seen with than a big one, so the color choice matters more here than on a 6 MOA sight.
Gold at 590nm belongs to neither family, which is why the Holosun ARO EVO Gold 2 MOA holds its separation from exactly the backgrounds that defeat the other two. On a 2 MOA reticle that contrast is not a nicety, it is what makes the dot findable at all against a wood line.
Enclosed, Solar Backed, IPX8
The emitter on the Holosun ARO EVO Gold 2 MOA is sealed inside the housing, so rain, snow, mud and lint cannot land on it and dim the reticle. Solar failsafe harvests ambient light and keeps the sight running if the CR2032 dies or is removed, and the cell itself is rated at 50,000 hours at brightness setting six, loaded from a side tray so a battery change never means pulling the optic off the rail.
The Holosun ARO EVO Gold 2 MOA is 6061 aluminum, hard anodized, rated IPX8 for immersion and 1000G for vibration. Shake Awake sleeps it when the rifle is still, automatic brightness reads the scene, and manual control takes over when the scene lies to it. Eight daylight settings and four night vision settings.
Both Mounts In The Box
Holosun supplies a 1.63 inch lower one third co witness mount and a 1.05 inch low mount with the Holosun ARO EVO Gold 2 MOA. The taller one sits the reticle above backup irons on a standard AR and gives a more upright head position. The low one shrinks your mechanical offset, which is what you want on a pistol caliber carbine or a shotgun.
Most makers sell one height and charge again for the other. Getting both means you can try them and keep whichever your cheek weld actually likes.
