Description
The Holosun AEMS Pro X2 Gold Dot is an enclosed, square-window rifle sight with a gold Multi-Reticle System, solar backup and Shake Awake, mounted on a four-post riser. It brings the wide AEMS window to AR-15s and carbines with a reticle color that many shooters find easier to see than red or green.

Holosun AEMS Pro X2 Gold Dot Overview
Holosun part AEMS-PRO-X2-GD uses a rectangular 1.1 by 0.87 inch window, which gives a wider field of view than round micro tubes. The body is 7075-T6 aluminum with a hard-anodized black finish, measuring 2.2 by 1.76 by 2.52 inches and weighing 4.3 ounces before the mount. Holosun claims the X2 optical design reduces parallax compared with earlier versions. Adjustments are 0.5 MOA per click with plus or minus 50 MOA of windage and elevation.
Why a Gold Reticle
Gold sits between red and green on the spectrum, at 590nm. Many shooters with astigmatism see it as a sharper, rounder dot than red, and it stays visible against both green foliage and snow. In very bright sun it is not quite as vivid as green, but it is easier on the eyes over a long range day. If you have struggled with a blurry red dot, gold is worth a look.

Multi-Reticle Options
Choose a 2 MOA dot, a 65 MOA circle, or the circle with the dot inside. The circle-dot is the go-to setup for home defense and close-range drills because the ring is fast to find. The 2 MOA dot alone is better for shooting groups at 100 yards. Brightness has 8 daylight and 4 night vision settings, plus an automatic mode that reads light through a forward-facing sensor.
Power That Lasts
Battery life is rated at 50,000 hours. The coin cell loads from a side tray, so you can change it without removing the optic from its mount. Shake Awake turns the LED off when the rifle is still and back on as soon as it moves, and a solar cell on top supplements the battery in good light. A lockout mode keeps the buttons from being bumped in a safe or rack.

Mount and Height
The included four-post riser puts the optic at 1.63 inches, a lower 1/3 co-witness with standard AR-15 iron sights. That keeps your irons in the bottom of the window as a backup without cluttering your view. The mount itself adds about 6.1 ounces, so expect a total weight a bit over ten ounces. The square body sits taller than a tube micro dot, so check clearance with any magnifier you plan to add.
Trade-Offs
The AEMS Pro X2 costs more than tube-style dots like the 515 series, and the mount is heavier than a minimalist riser. Holosun lists both IP67 and IPX8 in different places on its page, so treat it as water-resistant to submersion but not a dive optic. For shooters who value a wide window, an enclosed emitter and solar backup, those trade-offs are easy to accept.
