Holosun 507 Pro Max Red PRS Overview
Holosun part HS507-PROMAX-RD-PRS uses a 1.18 by 0.98 inch window, noticeably larger than the standard 507C, while the body stays compact at 1.8 by 1.4 by 1.38 inches and 1.7 ounces. The housing is hard-anodized 7075-T6 aluminum, and the 650nm red LED is sharp at moderate brightness. Adjustments are 1 MOA per click with plus or minus 30 MOA of travel. Because it uses the RMR pattern, it drops onto a wide range of optic-cut slides and plates.
Performance Reticle System
Instead of the usual dot-and-circle menu, the PRS pairs a 2 MOA dot with a choice of 8, 20 or 32 MOA circles. The small 8 MOA ring helps frame precise shots at distance, the 20 MOA ring is a good all-around carry and competition setting, and the 32 MOA ring is fastest up close. Being able to pick the ring size lets you tune the reticle to your eyes and your typical target distance.
Battery, Solar and Shake Awake
The battery sits in a side tray, so it can be swapped without removing the optic and losing zero. Holosun rates life at 50,000 hours at setting 6. A solar panel adds backup power in good light, and Shake Awake turns the LED off when the pistol is still and back on as it moves. There are 8 daylight and 4 night vision settings with memory and a lockout mode.
Mounting and Footprint
The 507 Pro Max uses the RMR footprint, the most widely supported pistol optic pattern. Many factory optic-ready pistols need a plate to accept it; check your slide cut first. Use quality screws of the correct length, thread locker and proper torque. Because the window is tall, standard-height iron sights usually will not co-witness, so plan on suppressor-height irons if you want a backup.
Open Emitter Trade-Off
Like every open-emitter optic, the LED is exposed between the lens and the slide. Rain, snow, lint or mud can sit on the emitter and block the dot. For competition and range use that is rarely an issue. For daily carry in bad weather, an enclosed sight like the EPS or 509T is more forgiving. Keep a soft brush handy and check the emitter window during cleaning.
Spec Notes
Holosun’s own page shows 50,000 hours in its spec table but 100,000 hours in its page summary, and lists automatic brightness as no while describing ambient light adjustment through the solar sensor.
