Buckshot Designed to Split on Impact
Force X2 starts with nine copper-plated 00 buckshot pellets, but these are not ordinary pellets. Federal engineers each FX2 pellet to split into two equal-size pieces on impact. According to Federal, that creates up to 18 wound channels instead of nine.
Splitting pellets also change how the load transfers energy. Federal says the design improves energy transfer from the payload to the target and helps reduce the potential for over-penetration, which matters when you are defending a home with family nearby.
The copper plating helps the pellets hold their shape on the way down the barrel, supporting consistent patterns at the short distances where a defensive shotgun is used.

Home Defense Shotgun Tips
Use Federal Force X2 12ga 00 Buckshot only in shotguns chambered for 2-3/4 inch or longer 12 gauge shells.
Pattern your shotgun with this load at realistic in-home distances, such as 5, 10 and 15 yards.
Think about what lies beyond your target and plan your defensive positions carefully.
Store your defensive shotgun securely, and check your local laws on firearm storage.
Federal Force X2 12ga 00 Buckshot ammo is an advanced choice for homeowners who want a dedicated defensive buckshot load.
Because each pellet is designed to become two, Federal Force X2 12ga 00 Buckshot shells aim to combine the familiar feel of 00 buckshot with more hits on target. That makes them an interesting option for anyone who has used standard buckshot and wants a load built specifically for defense.
Practice with your defensive load, not just cheaper target shells. Knowing how Federal Force X2 12ga 00 Buckshot shells recoil and pattern in your own shotgun builds confidence.
Shotgun choke makes a big difference with buckshot. Many shotguns pattern buckshot well through an improved cylinder or modified choke, but some guns surprise you, so test a few options before settling on one. Shoot at a large paper target at 10, 15 and 25 yards and count the hits inside a vital-sized circle.
Hunters going after hogs or deer in thick cover appreciate how quickly a pump or semi-auto loaded with Federal Force X2 12ga 00 Buckshot shells can deliver follow-up shots. Practice working the action from your shoulder so the gun stays on target between shots.
Keep a few Federal Force X2 12ga 00 Buckshot rounds in a shell carrier or sidesaddle on your shotgun so a reload is always within reach, whether you are in a deer stand or at home.
Keep a few spare Federal Force X2 12ga 00 Buckshot rounds in a shell carrier on the gun so a reload is always within reach. Check your defensive ammunition periodically for dented or damaged hulls, and replace any rounds that have been chambered many times. A consistent routine keeps your shotgun ready without surprises.
