Faxon Sport 300 BLK AR15 Pistol 10.5in Black – Reliable Compact 300 Blackout

Description

The Faxon Sport 300 BLK AR15 Pistol is a compact 10.5-inch 300 Blackout AR pistol from Faxon Firearms, built from a vetted stack of Faxon barrels, receivers and bolt carrier rather than mystery parts. It is the entry point of Faxon’s complete-gun lineup, aimed at shooters who want a short, practical 300 BLK with a clear upgrade path.

Faxon Sport 300 BLK AR15 Pistol Overview

Faxon is a family-owned manufacturer in the Cincinnati, Ohio area that started out machining aerospace and defense parts before building firearms in 2012. The Sport series is its value-focused line below the Pro and Premiere guns. This pistol uses Faxon’s Duty Series Gunner Profile barrel in 4150 CMV steel with a salt-bath nitride finish and a 1:8 twist, paired with a pistol-length gas system that suits short 300 Blackout builds. The listing is the 10.5-inch 300 BLK model, Faxon item FXSPT3B105GA9.

Receivers, Handguard and Bolt

The upper is Faxon’s Enhanced Forged receiver, and the forged lower has a tensioning screw that tightens up upper-to-lower fit. A Faxon Streamline 9-inch aluminum M-LOK handguard with a top rail leaves room for a light and optic. Inside is a Faxon Superfinished 5.56 M16-profile bolt carrier group with a nitride finish; 300 Blackout uses the standard 5.56 bolt face, so spare bolts and magazines are easy to find.

Furniture and Controls

To keep cost down, the Sport uses mil-spec parts where it makes sense: a mil-spec trigger, safety and charging handle, an A2-style grip and a 3-ounce carbine buffer. The brace is a KAK Shockwave 2M. A mil-spec trigger is serviceable but gritty compared with match units, so a drop-in trigger is a common first upgrade. A Magpul Gen M2 30-round magazine is included, and standard 5.56 magazines generally work, though some owners prefer marked 300 BLK magazines to avoid mix-ups.

Gas, Muzzle and Suppressor Use

The fixed .750 low-profile gas block and pistol-length stainless tube are set for reliable function with common 300 Blackout loads. The muzzle wears a Faxon .30 caliber A2 flash hider. Faxon describes the pistol as an ideal suppressor host for subsonic loads, but a suppressor is an NFA item that requires an approved ATF Form 4, tax stamp and waiting period, and it is not legal in every state. Subsonic ammunition may not cycle reliably unsuppressed in a fixed-gas gun, so test before relying on it.

Critical Safety Note on Ammunition

300 Blackout and 5.56 cartridges fit the same magazines, and a 300 BLK round can chamber in a 5.56 rifle, which can cause a catastrophic failure if fired. If you own both calibers, mark your magazines and ammo cans clearly and never mix them in a range bag. In this pistol, use only cartridges stamped 300 AAC Blackout or 300 BLK. Ammunition prices for 300 BLK sit above 5.56 and supersonic range ammo is easiest to find, while quality subsonic loads cost more.

Who This Pistol Suits

With 300 Blackout energy from a short barrel, this pistol fits home defense, truck and pack use, and suppressed shooting. Faxon itself notes it is not intended for buyers chasing maximum velocity or long-range performance, since a 10.5-inch barrel gives up velocity. The parts list is common and serviceable, so upgrades like a better trigger, ambi charging handle or optic are straightforward.

State Laws and Ownership

AR pistols with braces are allowed under current federal rules, but several states and cities restrict AR-pattern pistols, braces, threaded barrels or 30-round magazines, and some ban them outright. Brace regulations have changed more than once, so confirm the current law in your state before ordering.
