Description

CorBon 300 Blackout 150gr FMJ Match Performance Match 300 AAC Blackout ammo box and cartridge

CorBon 300 Blackout 150gr FMJ Match is CorBon item PM300AAC150 from its Performance Match line. It loads a 150 grain full metal jacket bullet at about 1,900 fps in reloadable brass, and it comes in a 20 round box. It is built for accurate, consistent practice with a 300 Blackout rifle.

Who Makes CorBon 300 Blackout 150gr FMJ Match

CorBon has a long history in high performance defensive and hunting ammunition, and its Performance Match line focuses on consistent, accurate training and competition loads. This 300 Blackout load was originally released with an AAC co-branding, reflecting the cartridge roots at Advanced Armament Corporation.

Retail descriptions note a hyper-concentric jacket and symmetrical bullet profile, which help the bullet fly consistently. Match-grade brass and clean-burning powder round out the load.

A 150 grain bullet is close in weight to the 147 grain military ball bullets common in 7.62 NATO, and it gives the 300 Blackout a good balance of velocity and recoil from a 16 inch barrel.

The 300 AAC Blackout was designed to give AR-15 owners a 30 caliber option using the same bolt, magazines and lower receiver, with only a barrel change. Supersonic loads like CorBon 300 Blackout 150gr FMJ Match make the most of that design from a standard length barrel, while subsonic loads are aimed at suppressed shooting.

Specifications and Performance

Retail listings give CorBon 300 Blackout 150gr FMJ Match a muzzle velocity of about 1,900 fps and 1,202 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Expect somewhat less from short-barrelled pistols and SBRs, which are common in this cartridge.

At this velocity the bullet is supersonic. With a 100 yard zero it drops steadily past 200 yards, which is typical of the cartridge. For training and plinking at typical AR distances, that is not a limitation.

Because the case is brass and boxer primed, it can be reloaded. Many 300 Blackout shooters reload because factory ammunition costs more than 5.56, and a supply of quality once-fired brass helps keep the cost of practice down over time.

Field Notes

Never chamber this cartridge in a rifle marked 223 Remington or 5.56 NATO. A 300 BLK round can chamber in a 5.56 rifle, which can cause a catastrophic failure. Mark your magazines and keep the two cartridges separated.

FMJ bullets are for training and target shooting. They do not expand reliably, so choose a hunting bullet for game and check local regulations, many of which do not allow FMJ for deer.

For practice, buy enough of a single lot to cover a range session or a class. Consistent ammunition helps you see real improvements in your shooting rather than variations between loads. Many shooters use CorBon 300 Blackout 150gr FMJ Match to confirm the zero they will rely on for their hunting load.

If you shoot supersonic and subsonic 300 BLK loads in the same rifle, confirm the zero for each. Their points of impact can differ widely, especially at 100 yards and beyond.

Clean your 300 Blackout barrel regularly, particularly the gas port area if you shoot a mix of supersonic and subsonic loads. Subsonic ammunition tends to leave more fouling in the action, while supersonic loads like this one burn more cleanly.

Store ammunition cool and dry. Rifle ammunition requires buyers to be at least 18, and some states add extra rules for ammunition purchases.
