Combat Armory CA15 Slim Pistol 30 Round 5.56 7.5in – Proven Compact AR

Description

The Combat Armory CA15 Slim Pistol 30 Round configuration is a compact 5.56 NATO AR-15 pistol with a 7.5-inch barrel, a slim 7-inch free-float M-LOK handguard and a standard 30-round magazine. It combines the light, easy-handling slim rail with full-capacity feeding, making it a practical range and home-defense option where AR pistols and standard-capacity magazines are legal.

Combat Armory CA15 Slim Pistol 30 Round Overview

The CA15 pistol is built on billet 7075-T6 aluminum receivers with a Type III hard-coat anodized black finish. Its 4140 chrome-moly vanadium barrel has a Melonite finish, M4 profile and feed ramps, 1-in-7 twist and 1/2×28 threads wearing an A2 flash hider. A pistol-length gas system with a low-profile .750 gas block sits under the slim handguard, and the lower ships with a bare pistol buffer tube. This listing differs from our 10-round slim-rail CA15 only in the included magazine, and from the full Picatinny model in its lighter, slimmer handguard.

Full Capacity in a Compact Package

A standard 30-round magazine means fewer reloads during drills and classes and matches the magazines most AR owners already have. It does hang lower under the gun, which can get in the way when shooting off a bench or from a low position. Many shooters keep a few 20-round magazines around for those situations. Use quality magazines with anti-tilt followers for the most reliable feeding from a short gas system.

Slim Rail Advantages

The slim M-LOK handguard keeps the front end light and comfortable to grip, which matters on a pistol that is often held with less support than a rifle. Mount your optic on the receiver flat-top, then add a light and a hand stop to the M-LOK slots. A hand stop is strongly recommended on a 7-inch handguard to keep your fingers back from the muzzle and the blast of the flash hider.

What to Expect From 7.5 Inches

Short 5.56 barrels give up velocity compared with 16-inch rifles, so effective range and terminal performance drop, and muzzle blast and flash increase sharply. Always use hearing protection, and consider defensive loads designed for short barrels if this is a home-defense gun. Suppressors help with noise but are NFA items that need an approved ATF Form 4 and state legality before use.

Braces, Stocks and Compliance

This pistol ships without a brace. Stabilizing brace rules have changed more than once, so confirm current ATF rules and your state laws before adding one. Do not install a shoulder stock; on a barrel shorter than 16 inches that creates a short-barreled rifle regulated under the National Firearms Act. A vertical foregrip on a pistol is also an NFA issue, so stick with angled grips or hand stops.

Reliability and Value

Mil-spec internals mean easy maintenance and wide parts availability, and the Melonite barrel resists wear and corrosion. Keep the bolt carrier group lubricated, since short gas systems run hotter and dirtier, and use brass-cased ammunition during break-in. Combat Armory is a newer brand with lower resale value than established makers, but the billet receivers and free-float rail give a lot of features for the money.

Safe Storage

Store handguns unloaded in a locked safe, lockbox or with a cable lock, and keep ammunition separate when children are in the home. Quick access safes let you keep a defensive handgun secure but available. Teach everyone in the household basic firearm safety rules.

State Laws and Ownership

AR-15 pistols count as handguns under federal rules and are banned or heavily restricted in states such as California, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Illinois and Washington, and many states cap magazines at 10 or 15 rounds. In Pennsylvania, AR pistols are handguns, buyers complete a PICS check, and concealed or vehicle carry requires a License to Carry Firearms. Confirm with your receiving FFL that you can lawfully take delivery before ordering.
