S. Army and became the classic sidearm of ranchers, lawmen and cowboys. Cimarron Firearms of Fredericksburg, Texas, imports Italian made reproductions built to follow the originals closely in fit, finish and handling. The Cimarron Pistoleer 45 Colt uses the traditional single action design: you cock the hammer for each shot, load and unload one chamber at a time through the loading gate, and eject spent cases with the ejector rod. The Pistoleer stands out with a nickel plated steel backstrap and trigger guard, a polished hammer for a two-tone effect, charcoal blued screws and two piece walnut grips with an embedded Cimarron coin.
Caliber Notes
The .45 Colt is the classic Single Action Army cartridge, delivering heavy, slow bullets with manageable recoil in standard pressure loads. Use only standard pressure .45 Colt ammunition in this revolver, never +P loads designed for modern large frame guns.

Handling
The plow handle grip shape lets the revolver roll back in your hand under recoil, which makes it comfortable to shoot. The 4.75 inch barrel balances quick handling with a useful sight radius. At about 40 ounces, it is substantial and steady.
Finish and Craftsmanship
A a blued finish with nickel plated backstrap and trigger guard gives the revolver a classic period look. Treat case colored and blued surfaces with a light coat of oil and avoid harsh solvents to preserve the finish.
Cowboy Action Shooting
SASS and other cowboy action matches are a popular use for single action revolvers like this one. Many shooters buy them in matched pairs.
Safe Carry
Traditional single action revolvers should be carried with the hammer down on an empty chamber unless the model has a transfer bar or other safety system. Load five, skip one, then lower the hammer on the empty chamber.
History of the Single Action Army
Often called the Peacemaker, the 1873 Single Action Army was produced by Colt for decades and is one of the most recognizable revolvers ever made. Modern reproductions let shooters enjoy the same design with modern steel and manufacturing.
Two-Tone Styling
The contrast of nickel backstrap and trigger guard against deep blue gives this revolver a distinctive look reminiscent of custom guns of the frontier era. It makes a handsome display piece and a fine shooter.
Practice and Care
Start at close range, focus on sight alignment and a smooth trigger press, and clean the bore and cylinder after each session, especially when shooting lead bullets.
