Description
The Cimarron P Model 45 Colt 4.75 is a faithful reproduction of the Colt Single Action Army, the revolver that defined the American West. It is chambered in .45 Colt with a 4.75 inch barrel, a case hardened frame, a blued finish and walnut grips.

Cimarron P Model 45 Colt 4.75 Overview
Introduced in 1873, the Single Action Army served the U.S. Army and became the classic sidearm of ranchers, lawmen and cowboys. Cimarron Firearms of Fredericksburg, Texas, imports Italian made reproductions built to follow the originals closely in fit, finish and handling. The Cimarron P Model 45 Colt 4.75 uses the traditional single action design: you cock the hammer for each shot, load and unload one chamber at a time through the loading gate, and eject spent cases with the ejector rod. Fixed sights consist of a front blade and a notch in the top strap.
Caliber Notes
The .45 Colt, often called .45 Long Colt, was the original Single Action Army cartridge. Standard pressure loads are pleasant to shoot and hit hard with heavy, slow bullets. Use only standard pressure .45 Colt ammunition in this revolver; never fire +P loads intended for modern large frame guns.

Handling
The plow handle grip shape lets the revolver roll back in your hand under recoil, which makes it comfortable to shoot. The 4.75 inch barrel balances quick handling with a useful sight radius. At about 40 ounces, it is substantial and steady.
Finish and Craftsmanship
A a blued finish gives the revolver a classic period look. Treat case colored and blued surfaces with a light coat of oil and avoid harsh solvents to preserve the finish.
Cowboy Action Shooting
SASS and other cowboy action matches are a popular use for single action revolvers like this one. Many shooters buy them in matched pairs.
Safe Carry
Traditional single action revolvers should be carried with the hammer down on an empty chamber unless the model has a transfer bar or other safety system. Load five, skip one, then lower the hammer on the empty chamber.
History of the Single Action Army
Often called the Peacemaker, the 1873 Single Action Army was produced by Colt for decades and is one of the most recognizable revolvers ever made. Modern reproductions let shooters enjoy the same design with modern steel and manufacturing.
The Gunfighter Barrel Length
The 4 3/4 inch barrel is often called the gunfighter or artillery length. It clears leather quickly and makes the revolver easy to carry, which is why it remains the favorite choice among cowboy action shooters and collectors alike.
Practice and Care
Start at close range, focus on sight alignment and a smooth trigger press, and clean the bore and cylinder after each session, especially when shooting lead bullets.
