Description
The Cimarron P Model 357 Mag 5.5 is a faithful reproduction of the Colt Single Action Army, the revolver that defined the American West. It is chambered in .357 Magnum / .38 Special with a 5.5 inch barrel, a case hardened old model frame, a standard blued finish and one piece walnut grips.

Cimarron P Model 357 Mag 5.5 Overview
Introduced in 1873, the Single Action Army served the U.S. Army and became the classic sidearm of ranchers, lawmen and cowboys. Cimarron Firearms of Fredericksburg, Texas, imports Italian made reproductions built to follow the originals closely in fit, finish and handling. The Cimarron P Model 357 Mag 5.5 uses the traditional single action design: you cock the hammer for each shot, load and unload one chamber at a time through the loading gate, and eject spent cases with the ejector rod. Fixed sights consist of a front blade and a notch in the top strap.
Caliber Notes
The .357 Magnum chambering is one of the most versatile for a single action. You can practice with mild, inexpensive .38 Special loads and step up to full power .357 Magnum for hunting small game or more serious use. Cowboy action shooters often run light .38 Special loads for fast, accurate strings.
Handling
The plow handle grip shape lets the revolver roll back in your hand under recoil, which makes it comfortable to shoot. The 5.5 inch barrel balances quick handling with a useful sight radius. At about 41 ounces, it is substantial and steady.
Finish and Craftsmanship
A a standard blued finish gives the revolver a classic period look. Treat case colored and blued surfaces with a light coat of oil and avoid harsh solvents to preserve the finish.
Cowboy Action Shooting
SASS and other cowboy action matches are a popular use for single action revolvers like this one. Many shooters buy them in matched pairs.
Safe Carry
Traditional single action revolvers should be carried with the hammer down on an empty chamber unless the model has a transfer bar or other safety system. Load five, skip one, then lower the hammer on the empty chamber.
History of the Single Action Army
Often called the Peacemaker, the 1873 Single Action Army was produced by Colt for decades and is one of the most recognizable revolvers ever made. Modern reproductions let shooters enjoy the same design with modern steel and manufacturing.
Practice and Care
Start at close range, focus on sight alignment and a smooth trigger press, and clean the bore and cylinder after each session, especially when shooting lead bullets.
Choosing a Barrel Length
Single action revolvers are commonly offered with 4 3/4, 5 1/2 and 7 1/2 inch barrels. The middle length is often called the civilian length and gives a balanced feel, a good sight radius and a classic look. It carries well in a traditional belt holster while still pointing naturally for fast shooting.
Loading and Unloading
Set the hammer to the loading position, open the loading gate, and rotate the cylinder to load or eject one chamber at a time with the ejector rod. Always verify every chamber is empty before cleaning or storing the revolver.
