Chiappa 1892 Trapper 357 Mag 16 Overview
The 1892 Trapper is a Chiappa lever action rifle. Lever guns are fast handling, quick to cycle and easy to carry in thick cover, a classic American design that still works.
Action and Controls
The 1892 Trapper is a lever action rifle. It holds 8 rounds.
Barrel
The 16 inch barrel has a 1:19″ twist.
Stock and Fit
The stock is walnut with a wood finish. Check the length of pull against your own fit, especially if you shoot in heavy clothing. Metal surfaces wear Blued.
Size and Handling
Overall length is 40.6″. It weighs about 6 lbs. A steady rest, a good sling and practice from field positions will help you shoot it well.
Ammo and Practice
Try a few brands and bullet weights to see what groups best in this rifle, then buy enough of that load to practice and hunt with the same ammo.
The 357 Magnum
The 357 Magnum hits hard and also fires 38 Special, so you can practice with mild 38s and load full power magnums when you need them.
Deer Hunting and More
This rifle suits deer hunting and, depending on caliber, hogs, black bear and other game. Confirm your zero before the season and know your effective range.
Optics and Accessories
Plan on quality scope rings or mounts, a sling, a hard or soft case and a cleaning kit. A bipod or shooting sticks help a lot for steady shots in the field or at the bench.
Buying Tips
Budget for quality optics or sights, a sling and ammo, and confirm your zero at the distances you expect to shoot.
Care and Value
Clean the bore and action after each range trip or hunt, keep moving parts lightly oiled and wipe the finish after handling. A well kept Chiappa holds its value.
State Laws
Some states limit semi-auto features, magazine capacity and hunting calibers. Check your local law before you buy. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
