Description

The Browning Buck Mark Contour URX 22 LR is a serious rimfire target pistol wearing a 7 1/4 inch stainless contoured barrel with a full length optics rail. The Buck Mark has been Browning answer to the target 22 since 1985, and this is the configuration most competitive shooters gravitate to.
Browning Buck Mark Contour URX 22 LR Barrel and Sight Radius
The barrel is 7 1/4 inches of stainless steel in the contour profile, with polished flats along the sides and a matte finish elsewhere. That length gives a sight radius of 9 3/4 inches, which is where the accuracy advantage actually comes from. A longer sight radius makes any given angular sighting error smaller at the target.
A full length Picatinny rail runs along the top, so a red dot or a scope mounts without buying a separate base. The irons underneath are Browning Pro-Target, with a white outline fully adjustable rear and a Patridge front, which is the traditional square post target arrangement.
Frame, Trigger and Grips
The frame is aluminium alloy in matte black, which keeps the weight down where it does not help and leaves it out front where it does. Total weight is 39 oz., and most of that sits ahead of your hand, which is exactly what you want for offhand target shooting.
The trigger is gold plated alloy, and the trigger guard is matte black. The grips are UltraGrip RX, a black finger grooved design with textured panels that fills the hand and puts the trigger finger in the same place every time.
The magazine is a ten round single stack, and the Buck Mark magazine design has been in production long enough that spares and replacements are available everywhere.

Why the Buck Mark Endures
Browning has been building this pistol since 1985 and the fundamentals have not needed changing. The barrel is fixed to the frame rather than sitting on a moving slide, which is the single biggest reason a blowback target 22 shoots accurately, and the straight blowback action has almost nothing in it to go wrong.
It is also a pistol people keep for decades. Magazines, grips, sights and barrels are all still available, and a Buck Mark bought today will still be supported long after most current polymer pistols are discontinued.
Why Buyers Choose the Browning Buck Mark Contour URX 22 LR
The combination of a long stainless barrel, a full length rail and real target sights is what sets this version apart from the shorter Buck Marks. You can shoot it with irons, mount a red dot for steel challenge, or hang a scope on it for small game, without modifying anything.
The 39 oz. weight is also deliberate rather than an oversight. Mass steadies a pistol on target and absorbs what little recoil 22 Long Rifle produces, and it is why target pistols have never chased light weight.
Who Should Buy It
The Browning Buck Mark Contour URX 22 LR suits bullseye and steel challenge competitors, small game hunters who prefer a handgun, shooters teaching fundamentals where cheap ammunition matters, and anyone who wants one 22 pistol that will still be shooting in thirty years. Pair it with a red dot on the rail and it is difficult to improve on.
