Description
The Bergara Premier Barreled Action 7mm PRC is a ready-to-build Bergara Premier action already fitted with a 22-inch carbon fiber-wrapped barrel chambered in 7mm PRC. Drop it into your favorite stock or chassis, add a trigger and scope, and you have a lightweight, long-range hunting or precision rifle built your way.
Bergara Premier Barreled Action 7mm PRC Overview
Bergara made its name building precision barrels before it ever sold complete rifles, so a factory barreled action plays to the company’s greatest strength. This model pairs a Premier series action with a #6 contour CURE carbon fiber barrel, which wraps a stainless steel core in carbon fiber to save weight while staying stiff and cooling quickly. The action uses the Remington 700 footprint, which means thousands of stocks, chassis, triggers, bases, and bottom metal options fit without custom work. At about 4.2 pounds, it is a strong foundation for a light mountain rifle.
Carbon Fiber Barrel
The 22-inch barrel has a stainless steel core finished with Bergara’s Cold Bore Technology and wrapped in carbon fiber. It has a fast 1:8 twist, ideal for the long, heavy, high-BC bullets that make 7mm PRC shine at distance. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24 for a brake or suppressor. Remember that suppressors are NFA items requiring an approved ATF Form 4 and must be legal in your state.
Premier Action
The action features a floating bolt head and a non-rotating gas shield, along with a bolt stop release. It is drilled and tapped in the common R700 pattern with 8×40 screws, so scope bases are easy to source. The action is designed to work with AICS-pattern detachable magazines when paired with suitable bottom metal or a chassis.
What You Will Need
A barreled action is not a complete rifle. You will need a stock or chassis, a trigger, bottom metal or a magazine system if your stock does not include one, plus a scope base, rings, and an optic. Because the action follows the common R700 pattern, all of these are widely available. If you are not comfortable assembling and torquing the action, have a qualified gunsmith install it and check headspace.
The 7mm PRC Cartridge
The 7mm PRC was designed by Hornady to launch long, aerodynamic bullets from a standard long action with modern efficiency. It shoots flat, resists wind well, and carries plenty of energy for elk and other large game at long range. Ammunition is more expensive than common calibers like 270 Win or 30-06, but it is widely available from major makers.
Weight and Balance
At about 4.2 pounds for the barreled action alone, the finished rifle can be remarkably light, especially in a carbon stock. A lighter rifle recoils more, so many builders add a muzzle brake or suppressor for comfort.
Legal Note
A barreled action includes the receiver, which is the serialized part of the firearm, so it is legally a firearm and must be transferred through an FFL dealer like any rifle.
State Laws
A few states regulate threaded barrels, muzzle devices, or certain chassis features. Check your local regulations before ordering, and your receiving FFL dealer can help confirm what is legal where you live.
