Description
The Bergara HMR Pro Heavy Barrel Creedmoor in 6.5 Creedmoor is a Bergara Premier series precision rifle built for both long-range hunting and match shooting, with a 24-inch #6 heavy threaded barrel, an adjustable stock with an integrated aluminum bedding chassis, and an AICS-style detachable magazine. It delivers the stability and accuracy of a precision rig with the versatility of a hunting rifle.
Bergara HMR Pro Heavy Barrel Creedmoor Overview
HMR stands for Hunting and Match Rifle, and the Pro version is Bergara’s step-up model built in its Lawrenceville, Georgia production cells. The stainless barrel goes through extra honing and quality checks before receiving a Cerakote finish. The stock features an integrated mini-chassis for repeatable bedding, allowing the barrel to float freely, plus an adjustable cheek piece, length of pull spacers, and both flush-cup QD sling mounts and traditional swivel studs. It is a rifle that can go from a bench match to a mountain hunt without changing a thing.
Heavy Threaded Barrel
The 24-inch #6 contour barrel is stiff and resists heat-induced point-of-impact shift during long strings of fire. Its 1:8 twist is ideal for the long, high-BC bullets that make 6.5 Creedmoor so effective at distance. The muzzle is threaded 5/8-24 for a brake or suppressor. Suppressors are NFA items requiring an approved ATF Form 4 and must be legal in your state.
Premier Action
The two-lug Premier action uses a floating bolt head that ensures full contact with the lug abutments, a cone-shaped bolt nose for smooth feeding, and a spring-loaded sliding plate extractor. The bolt head, gas shield, and shroud are nitrided for durability and smooth operation. The action accepts Remington 700 pattern scope bases with 8×40 screws.
Stock and Bedding
The integrated aluminum chassis gives the action a solid, consistent bedding surface, so the rifle returns to zero reliably after being removed from the stock. The adjustable comb lets you line up your eye with a scope, and spacers fine-tune length of pull. Multiple sling mounting options make it easy to carry or set up a shooting sling.
Magazine and Optics
The rifle feeds from an AICS-style detachable magazine, with a 5-round magazine included. AICS magazines are widely available in higher capacities for competition. There are no iron sights, so plan for a quality long-range scope and a solid base and rings.
Weight and Handling
At about 9.5 pounds and 44 inches long before optics, the rifle is heavy enough to be steady from a bag or bipod and to soak up recoil, while still being carryable for hunts where you do not need to hike long distances.
The 6.5 Creedmoor
The 6.5 Creedmoor is one of the most popular precision and hunting cartridges for good reason. It offers mild recoil, excellent wind resistance, and widely available match and hunting ammunition, making it a natural fit for this rifle.
State Laws
A few states regulate threaded barrels or magazine capacity. Check your local regulations before ordering, and your receiving FFL dealer can help confirm the rifle is legal where you live.
