Bergara B-14 HMR 7mm PRC 24″ – Superb Adjustable Hunting and Match Rifle

Description

The Bergara B-14 HMR 7mm PRC is a bolt-action rifle that bridges the gap between a hunting rifle and a match gun. This configuration (Bergara model B14LM3713, UPC 043125017249) pairs a 24-inch 4140 chrome-moly barrel in a No. 6 taper with Bergara’s adjustable HMR stock and molded mini-chassis, finished in Graphite Black Cerakote with a speckled brown stock.

Bergara B-14 HMR 7mm PRC Overview

HMR is short for the hunting and match rifle concept, and that is exactly how this design shoots. The Bergara B-14 HMR 7mm PRC uses an aluminum mini-chassis molded into the stock for repeatable bedding, and the barrel is fully free-floated for consistent accuracy shot after shot. Bergara backs it with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee with quality factory ammunition, which is impressive at this price point.

Adjustable Cheekpiece and Length of Pull

The stock features an adjustable cheekpiece and length of pull, so you can set a proper cheek weld behind a large scope and fit the rifle to your frame or your hunting clothes. A vertical-style grip keeps your trigger finger straight to the rear, and the flat fore-end rides steady on bags, packs and barricades. Multiple sling studs leave room for a bipod and a sling at the same time.

7mm PRC Power for Long-Range Shots

The 7mm PRC was built around long, high-BC bullets, and the 1:8 twist in this barrel stabilizes them well. The cartridge shoots flat and carries energy deep into the distances where elk and mule deer are often taken, with noticeably less recoil than a 300 magnum. At just under 10 pounds, the rifle’s weight soaks up recoil and keeps the sight picture steady, which makes it a strong choice for the bench, the field and steel matches.

Smooth B-14 Action

The B-14 action uses a two-lug bolt with a sliding extractor and a coned bolt nose for smooth feeding from the AICS-style detachable magazine. The receiver is drilled and tapped for standard Remington 700 long-action bases, and the threaded muzzle accepts a brake or suppressor. Bergara’s adjustable trigger breaks clean and crisp from the factory.

Setup Tips

Start with a 20 MOA one-piece base and quality rings so you have plenty of elevation travel for distant targets. A first focal plane scope in the 4-16x to 6-24x range is a good match for this platform. Set the comb height so your eye lines up with the scope without lifting your head, then adjust length of pull so the scope sits at the right eye relief while you stay relaxed behind the gun.

Once zeroed at 100 yards, confirm your drops at several distances with the exact load you plan to use. Practice from prone, from a tripod and off a pack so field positions feel familiar long before the season starts.
