Beretta 92X Performance Carry Optic 9mm 18rd Red — Superb Match Pistol

Description

The Beretta 92X Performance Carry Optic in 9mm, part number J92XPCORD18, is the competition build of the 92 finished in graphite gray Tinitec with red and black textured grips and a red trigger. The barrel is 4.90 inches, capacity is eighteen plus one, and the slide is cut for an optic from the factory. The frame is steel rather than aluminium. That is the defining feature of the Performance line and the reason these guns sit so flat under recoil compared with a standard 92.

It is set up for Carry Optics division out of the box: optic cut, oversized controls, competition trigger, and a magazine well that is bevelled for speed.

Why a steel frame changes the gun

An aluminium framed 92 is already mild in 9mm. A steel framed one is close to motionless, and that is what lets a competitor call the dot back into the window rather than hunt for it.

The weight sits low and central rather than out at the muzzle, so the gun is heavy without being slow to start.

The tradeoff is carrying it. This is not a concealment pistol and it was never meant to be one; the name refers to the Carry Optics division, not to carrying the gun.

If you want the 92 action in something you will wear all day, the aluminium framed guns are the ones to look at.

Set up for Carry Optics out of the box

The slide is cut for a red dot at the factory with an adapter plate system, so there is no machining, no lost warranty, and no waiting on a slide to come back.

The trigger is the competition unit with a shorter reset and a cleaner single action break than a service 92 gets.

Controls are oversized. The safety, slide stop and magazine release are all larger than standard, which matters when the clock is running.

The magazine well is bevelled and the gun ships with eighteen round magazines, which is the capacity most Carry Optics shooters want.

Cartridge dimensions and pressures are standardized by SAAMI. For practice and match use we stock 115 grain 9mm brass cased full metal jacket, and standard 92 pattern magazines fit the gun. Check your division’s rules before you buy an optic, since plate height and window size are where most disqualifications come from rather than the gun itself. The yellow gripped version of this same pistol is listed separately, the standard Performance Carry Optic is the 92X PCO, and the service guns are the 92GTS and the M9A1.

Every handgun we sell ships to a licensed FFL for transfer.

Why it is worth considering

• A steel frame, which is why the gun barely moves under recoil.
• A factory optic cut with an adapter plate system.
• A competition trigger with a short reset and a clean single action break.
• Oversized safety, slide stop and magazine release.
• Eighteen round magazines and a bevelled magazine well.

Who it suits

This suits a Carry Optics competitor, or a shooter who wants the softest shooting 9mm Beretta builds and does not care what it weighs. It is the wrong gun for concealed carry and more gun than a casual range shooter needs. Every handgun we sell ships to a licensed FFL for transfer.
