Description

The Beretta 686 Sporting Vittoria in 20 gauge, part number J686S2030V, is the small bore clays 686 built on Beretta’s Vittoria stock. Barrels are 30 inches, blued with a vent rib, chambers are 3 inches, and the receiver is steel with silver engraving. The stock is European walnut in Vittoria geometry with a semi Monte Carlo comb.

Vittoria reshapes grip, comb and cast together for shooters who do not fit a standard field stock, and the semi Monte Carlo profile keeps the comb level toward the heel so eye height stays constant however far forward or back you mount. The top rib is the wider 10 by 6 millimetre tapered sporting profile, five flush Optima-Choke HP tubes ship in the case, and the trigger is the single selective inertia unit.

A fitted stock on a small bore is not a compromise

A 20 gauge already gives back most of what a 12 costs you in recoil across a hundred targets. Put a stock on it that actually fits and the gun stops fighting you at both ends.

The semi Monte Carlo comb is the part most shooters underrate. A conventional comb drops away toward the heel, so eye height changes with mount position. This one does not.

Vittoria is shaping, not shortening. Grip circumference, comb and cast move together, which is why the gun feels made for smaller hands rather than cut down for them.

This is the fixed comb version. If you want to dial comb height yourself, the B-Fast builds are the ones to look at.

What the Beretta 686 Sporting brings to the station

The 10 by 6 tapered rib gives a wider, flatter sighting plane than the field rib, which makes the picture easier to repeat across a round.

Thirty inch barrels on a scaled 20 gauge receiver land near the weight of a 28 inch 12 bore, so the swing stays long without the day getting heavy.

The low profile boxlock, conical locking lugs and replaceable shoulders are what keep 680 series actions tight through decades of heavy round counts.

Five flush Optima-Choke HP tubes mean constriction changes between stations without carrying a wrench and a box of extended tubes.

Shotshell dimensions and pressures are standardized by SAAMI, and the 3 inch chambers take both 2 3/4 and 3 inch twenty gauge shells, though clays shooting is 2 3/4 inch work. Federal Top Gun 7/8 ounce 7.5 shot is the practice load and Browning BXD Upland in 5 shot covers the days you take it hunting. Do not dry fire the gun without snap caps.

Shooters who want comb height adjustment should compare the 20 gauge B-Fast build, the Vittoria stock is also offered in 12 gauge, and the small bore field guns are here in 26 inch and 30 inch. One note on the paperwork: distributor records for this part number disagree on whether the comb is adjustable. The photographs and the Beretta part description both show a fixed comb, which is what we have listed, and we will confirm the gun in hand before it ships.

Why it is worth considering

  • Vittoria stock geometry, shaped rather than simply shortened.
  • A semi Monte Carlo comb, which holds eye height constant across the mount.
  • A 20 gauge on a scaled frame, so the weight saving is real rather than cosmetic.
  • Thirty inch barrels and a 10 by 6 tapered sporting rib.
  • The 680 series boxlock, an action that stays tight through heavy round counts.

Who it suits

This suits a clays shooter who wants a small bore and has never fitted a standard stock. Anyone who needs to set comb height themselves should buy a B-Fast build, and a walking upland hunter will prefer the lighter, shorter field guns. Every long gun we sell ships to a licensed FFL for transfer.
