Description
The BCM RECCE-14 MCMR Bronze is the burnt bronze Cerakote version of Bravo Company’s 14.5 inch carbine, and the finish is the only thing that separates it from the black gun. Underneath it is the same government profile barrel with a mid length gas system and a compensator pinned and welded to take overall length past sixteen inches. Bronze is an unusual choice on a working carbine and that is largely the appeal.
It is warm enough to read as deliberate rather than tactical, it hides handling marks better than black, and there are not many of them at any given range. Function is identical; you are buying the finish.
What the BCM RECCE-14 MCMR Bronze Is Built From
The barrel is 14.5 inches of MIL-SPEC 11595E steel, government profile, manganese phosphate finished under the Cerakote with a chrome lined USGI 5.56 bore and a 1:7 twist. Chrome lining trades a little intrinsic accuracy for corrosion resistance, barrel life and reliable extraction when the gun is hot.
The mid length gas system is the reason this configuration shoots as well as it does. A longer distance from chamber to gas port means lower pressure reaching the bolt and a longer dwell time, so the action cycles more gently than a carbine length gun with the same barrel.
The bolt carrier group is Carpenter No. 158 steel, shot peened, high pressure tested and magnetic particle inspected, with a chrome lined full auto profile carrier, a tool steel extractor and BCM’s own extractor spring and black insert. That is the specification that decides whether a rifle finishes a hard day.
The Pinned Muzzle Device and What It Means
The compensator is pinned and welded in place. That is what makes a 14.5 inch barrel legal as an ordinary rifle rather than a short barreled rifle: overall length passes sixteen inches permanently, so there is no tax stamp, no registration and no state level SBR question.
It is also irreversible without a gunsmith. If you intend to fit a different muzzle device or a suppressor mount later, that means cutting the pin and re-crowning or re-threading the barrel. Decide before you buy rather than after.
Everything else is BCM Gunfighter: stock, pistol grip, ambidextrous charging handle, QD end plate, PNT nickel Teflon trigger and enhanced trigger guard, over a flat top upper with M4 feed ramps and laser T-markings.

- Chrome lined USGI 5.56 bore built for round count
- Carpenter No. 158 bolt, shot peened and HPT and MPI tested
Who it suits
This suits the buyer who wants a BCM carbine that does not look like every other BCM carbine, and who values the finish enough to pay a little for it. Mechanically it is identical to the black rifle, so choose on looks with a clear conscience.

Ammunition, Optics and Transfer Notes for the BCM RECCE-14 MCMR Bronze
A 1:7 twist barrel handles everything from 55 grain practice ball to 77 grain match, so the rifle does not need different hardware for cheap range work and serious use. The chamber is cut to 5.56 NATO, which means both 5.56 and 223 Remington are safe in it; a barrel marked 223 does not work the other way round. Cartridge standards are published by SAAMI.
There is no fixed front sight, so the flat top upper and free float handguard leave the whole sight line clear. A red dot is the natural default at this barrel length, and a 1-6 or 1-8 low power variable extends the rifle usefully without much weight. Fit backup irons if the rifle has a defensive role.
Magazine capacity is restricted in several states, and a few jurisdictions restrict semi automatic rifles of this configuration outright, so check your local law before ordering. The same carbine is listed in black and Flat Dark Earth, and more of our inventory is on the MAG5 Firearms shop page. The BCM RECCE-14 MCMR Bronze ships to a licensed dealer of your choosing, where you will complete a 4473 and a NICS check.
