Description
The Barnes VOR-TX 375 H and H 300gr Solid is the non expanding half of the Barnes Safari line for the most versatile big bore ever built. It leaves the muzzle at roughly 2560 fps, which works out to approximately 4365 ft-lbs, and it does a completely different job than the TSX softpoint that shares its weight. This bullet is built to go the length of a buffalo or through an elephant skull rather than to open up. Each box holds 20 rounds.

Barnes VOR-TX 375 H and H 300gr Solid Round Nose Overview
The projectile is turned from a solid copper alloy with relief bands machined around the shank. It does not expand at all, by design. The flat meplat on the round nose profile keeps the bullet tracking straight through heavy muscle and bone instead of tumbling or veering off line.
The relief bands reduce bearing surface and therefore pressure, which is what allows a solid this long to be driven at sensible velocity without spiking chamber pressure or fouling the bore badly.
300 Grain Banded Solid Performance
A banded solid is measured by penetration, not by energy transfer or expansion. Where the TSX opens to double diameter and dumps its energy in the first foot of tissue, this bullet drives end to end and exits. On a frontal brain shot or a raking shot on buffalo, that is the only behaviour that works.
Because it is matched closely to the softpoint in velocity, the two loads can be carried together. Many hunters load softs first with solids behind them, which is precisely the scenario this pairing was designed for.
Why Hunters Choose 375 H and H Magnum Solid Ammo
Most African jurisdictions that permit elephant require solids, and several set a minimum calibre that the 375 H and H just meets. This 375 H and H Magnum solid ammo exists to satisfy that requirement with a modern lead free projectile rather than a traditional steel jacketed solid.
Be clear about what a solid is not for. It will pass through a plains game animal leaving a narrow wound channel and very little energy transfer, which makes it a poor choice for kudu, zebra or anything you expect to drop on the spot. Use the TSX softpoint for that and keep solids for the job they were built for.
Recoil is the same as the softpoint, which is firm but manageable in a rifle of proper weight. Practice from field positions matters far more than bench accuracy at the distances this cartridge is used.

Range Notes For This Non Expanding Dangerous Game Bullet
Confirm point of impact against your softpoint load. Barnes matches the two closely at the muzzle, but individual rifles do not always agree, and if you load softs and solids in the same magazine you need to know whether they print together at your zero distance.
Feed test the full magazine before you travel. A round nose solid usually feeds beautifully from a controlled round feed action, but confirm it rather than assume, and inspect the ammunition after a long flight in a hold.
This is a non expanding dangerous game bullet, so treat every shot as a pass through and be certain of what stands behind the animal. The Barnes VOR-TX 375 H and H 300gr Solid will exit almost anything it is pointed at.
