Description
The Barnes VOR-TX 300 BLK 110gr TAC-TX FB is the supersonic hunting load for the 300 AAC Blackout. Barnes drives a solid copper TAC-TX out of the muzzle at roughly 2350 fps carrying about 1349 ft-lbs of energy. The Blackout was designed to give the AR-15 platform a 30 caliber bullet without changing anything but the barrel, and a monolithic copper bullet is what makes it a genuine hunting cartridge rather than a novelty. Each box holds 20 rounds.

Barnes VOR-TX 300 BLK 110gr TAC-TX FB Overview
The TAC-TX is machined from solid copper with a polymer tip over a hollow nose. There is no lead core to shed and no jacket to separate, so the bullet opens into four sharp petals at roughly double the original diameter and then keeps driving straight.
Barnes designed this bullet specifically to expand at Blackout velocities, which matters because the cartridge starts slower than any other 30 caliber in common use. A bullet designed around 2800 fps will often fail to open at 2350, and that is exactly the trap most 30 caliber projectiles fall into when loaded in this case.
110 Grain TAC-TX Flat Base Performance
The 110 grain TAC-TX flat base is the light, fast end of the Blackout lineup. A flat base is correct here because with a 0.289 ballistic coefficient this is emphatically a short range cartridge, and a boat tail would buy nothing at the distances it is used.
Barnes machines relief grooves into the bearing surface of the projectile. Those grooves reduce bore contact, lower pressure and cut copper fouling, which matters in a cartridge that is frequently fired from a short barrel where pressure behaviour is already unusual.
Why Hunters Choose 300 Blackout Hunting Ammo
The 300 AAC Blackout drops into any AR-15 with nothing more than a barrel change. Bolt, magazines and lower all carry over, which is why it became the most widely adopted AR cartridge after 5.56. It burns its powder in a short barrel, so a 9 or 10 inch upper loses far less velocity than a 5.56 would.
For hogs and deer inside 200 yards this 300 Blackout hunting ammo does real work. A 30 caliber copper bullet at 2350 fps penetrates well and expands reliably, which is a different proposition entirely from the 5.56 it shares a rifle with.
A safety point worth stating plainly. A 300 Blackout cartridge will chamber in a 5.56 barrel and firing it there destroys the rifle and can injure the shooter. If you own both uppers, keep the ammunition physically separated and check the headstamp every time.

Range Notes For This All Copper AR Hunting Bullet
Function test a full magazine before you hunt. The Blackout is more sensitive to gas system tuning and buffer weight than a 5.56, particularly in short barrelled uppers, and a supersonic load may cycle differently than the subsonic ammunition some rifles are set up for.
An all copper AR hunting bullet prints to a different point of impact than practice ammunition. Zero with this exact load, foul a clean barrel with a round or two first, then leave the optic alone.
Be realistic about range. With a 0.289 ballistic coefficient the Barnes VOR-TX 300 BLK 110gr TAC-TX sheds velocity quickly and drops steeply past 200 yards. Expansion stays reliable to roughly 200 yards, which happens to match the honest hunting range of the cartridge.
