Description
The Balikli BLK is a Turkish-built bolt action that pairs two things which do not usually arrive together at this price: a genuine Turkish walnut stock and a 20 inch barrel threaded 5/8×24 with a Picatinny rail machined into the receiver. In 30-06 Springfield with a detachable five-round magazine, it is a straightforward hunting rifle with the modern conveniences already fitted.
Stock, Magazine and Handling on the Balikli BLK
The Turkish walnut stock has a straight comb and a recoil pad at the rear, with a modest palm swell at the grip. A 30-06 in a rifle this size is a real push against the shoulder, and honest buyers should know that: it is not punishing, but it is more than a 308 and considerably more than a 243. A slip-on pad is a cheap addition if you plan long sessions at the bench.
Feeding comes from a five round detachable box magazine, and one magazine is included. A detachable box makes unloading at the end of a hunt straightforward, and it means you can carry the rifle to the truck empty without cycling live rounds through the chamber. Spare magazines for imported rifles are not always easy to source later, so buying a second one early is sensible.
The bolt is a conventional turn bolt with a short, positive throw. Nothing in the manual of arms will surprise anyone who has run a bolt gun before, which is the point on a working hunting rifle rather than a competition platform.
Walnut and a Threaded Muzzle
Most rifles at this price wear injection-moulded polymer, and most rifles with walnut stocks cost considerably more. Turkey has a long-established walnut industry and a gunmaking tradition built around it, which is the reason the Balikli BLK can carry real wood without the price that usually implies. Walnut is heavier than synthetic and it does need looking after in wet weather, but it damps recoil better and it can be refinished rather than replaced.
The 5/8×24 threaded muzzle is the other feature that would normally be an extra. It accepts a brake, a thread protector or, with the appropriate ATF approval through a Class 3 dealer, a suppressor — MAG5 Firearms does not sell NFA items, so that would be a separate transaction elsewhere. For most buyers the value is simply having the option without paying a gunsmith to cut threads later.

A note on 20 inch barrels in 30-06. The cartridge is traditionally chambered in 22 to 24 inch barrels and published ballistics generally reflect that, so expect to give up somewhere in the region of 100 fps against a 24 inch tube. What you get back is a rifle that is genuinely easier to carry and considerably handier in timber or from a blind, and at any range most game is actually taken the velocity difference changes nothing you would notice.
Why it is worth considering
- Genuine Turkish walnut stock at a price where polymer is the norm
- 20 inch barrel threaded 5/8×24 from the factory
- Integral Picatinny rail, so mounting an optic needs only rings
- Detachable five-round magazine rather than a floorplate
- 30-06 Springfield, with the widest ammunition selection of any American cartridge
- Matte finish that suits a working rifle
Who it suits
The Balikli BLK suits the hunter who wants a wood-stocked rifle without paying a premium for it, and who would rather have the threaded muzzle and the rail included than added later. 30-06 remains the most versatile cartridge in North America — everything from deer to elk to moose is covered by factory ammunition available in any hardware store in the country. If you want the same rifle in something with less recoil, it is also offered in 308 Winchester.

Ammunition, Optics and Transfer Notes for the Balikli BLK
The 30-06 Springfield is one of the easiest cartridges in North America to feed. Factory loads run from 125-grain varmint bullets up through 220-grain round noses, which means the Balikli BLK can be set up for antelope at distance or black bear in thick timber without changing anything but the box of ammunition. Dimensions and pressure limits for the cartridge are published by SAAMI, and every major manufacturer loads to that standard, so brand choice is about bullet construction and accuracy in your particular rifle rather than compatibility.
The receiver ships with an integral Picatinny rail, so mounting glass needs rings and nothing else. A 3-9×40 or 2.5-10×42 suits the 20 inch barrel and the ranges most hunters actually shoot. Because the barrel is threaded 5/8×24, a muzzle brake or a thread protector both fit; the rifle ships with the protector in place. MAG5 Firearms does not sell NFA items, and any suppressor would require its own ATF approval and a separate transfer.
If the 30-06 is more recoil than you want, the same rifle is offered as the Balikli BLK in 308 Winchester, which uses the same stock, rail and thread pitch. You can see the rest of what we carry on the MAG5 Firearms shop page. Every long gun on this site ships to a licensed dealer of your choosing, where you will complete a 4473 and a NICS check before taking the Balikli BLK home.
