Browning revived the A5 name in 2012 with a new action and the classic squared-back receiver that made the original famous. The modern A5 is built around the Kinematic Drive inertia system, which uses recoil energy to cycle and keeps the action clean because no gas enters it. Browning backs the A5 with a 100,000-round or five-year guarantee. The Sweet 16 name honors the beloved 16 gauge Auto-5, and this version wraps the gun in a Vintage Tan finish that blends into fields and grasslands.

Inertia Action
The Kinematic Drive system cycles from recoil rather than gas, so there are no pistons or ports to foul and cleanup is quick. It runs a wide range of loads reliably. Like any inertia gun, it can be sensitive to very light target loads, especially when new, so break it in with standard field loads.
Barrel and Chokes
Browning’s Total Barrel Dynamics combines a back-bored barrel with a lengthened Vector Pro forcing cone for smoother, more uniform patterns and less felt recoil. The gun ships with three Invector-DS choke tubes (Improved Cylinder, Modified, and Full), which seal against gas and do not require a separate wrench for most uses. A fiber-optic front sight and ivory mid-bead give a fast sight picture.
Loading and Controls
The Speed Load Plus system sends the first shell loaded into the magazine straight to the chamber, and lets you unload the magazine without cycling shells through the action. The TurnKey magazine plug can be removed without disassembling the forend. The ergonomic bolt latch is easy to operate with gloves.
Fit and Recoil
The composite stock adjusts for cast, drop, and length of pull with included shims and spacers, and the Inflex II recoil pad directs recoil down and away from your face. The gun is shot to a flat 50/50 point of impact, so it shoots where you look.
Finish and Durability
The aluminum alloy receiver keeps the gun light, while a Nickel Teflon coating on internal parts reduces friction and resists corrosion. The Vintage Tan finish covers the stock, barrel, and receiver for full protection in the field.
