Description
The Browning A5 Ultimate 12 Gauge 28 Inch is the upgraded version of the Browning A5, a semi automatic 12 gauge with a 28 inch barrel, a 3 inch chamber, an engraved satin silver receiver and a Grade III Turkish walnut stock. This listing is UPC 023614398226, Browning item 0118203004. It weighs about 6 lb 13 oz, measures 49 5/8 inches overall and holds 4 rounds of 2 3/4 inch shells in the magazine.
Browning A5 Ultimate 12 Gauge 28 Inch Overview
The A5 name goes back to John Browning and the original Auto-5, and the modern A5 keeps the famous humpback receiver profile. It uses the recoil operated Kinematic Drive system instead of a gas piston, so there is no gas system to foul. The Ultimate trim adds the wood and engraving that make it a gun you will be proud to hand down.
Engraved Silver Receiver
The aluminum alloy receiver has a satin silver finish with engraving on both sides, and the humpback profile gives a long, flat sight plane down the rib. It is a striking gun in the field and in the gun cabinet.
Grade III Turkish Walnut
Browning fits Grade III Turkish walnut with a gloss oil finish and 22 lines per inch cut checkering. Wood figure varies from gun to gun, so the stock on your shotgun will not look exactly like the photos. Browning lists a 14 1/4 inch length of pull and an Inflex 2 recoil pad.
Kinematic Drive Action
Kinematic Drive is a short recoil inertia design. The bolt and barrel use recoil energy to cycle the action, which keeps carbon out of the receiver and lets the gun run clean through a long day. Like any inertia gun, it needs a firm shoulder to cycle reliably, so mount the gun properly.
Barrel, Chokes and Sights
The 28 inch barrel has a high gloss finish, a 1/4 inch rib and a fiber optic front sight. It takes Invector-DS flush chokes, and Browning includes Full, Modified and Improved Cylinder tubes for upland birds, ducks and clays.
Waterfowl Plug
Federal law limits migratory bird hunting to three shells total, so install the magazine plug before you hunt doves or ducks. Check your state rules as well.
Cleaning and Care
Wipe down the barrel and receiver after a wet hunt and keep a light coat of oil on metal parts. Let the walnut dry before casing the gun, and touch up the oil finish when it starts to look dry.
State Laws
Shotguns are legal to buy in most places, but hunting rules vary by state and species. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
