Browning A5 Hunter 20 Gauge 28 Inch Overview
The A5 name goes back to John Browning and the original Auto-5. The modern A5 uses the recoil operated Kinematic Drive system instead of a gas piston, so there is no gas system to foul and the action stays clean. The 20 gauge version is built on its own scaled receiver, which keeps it light and quick for upland birds, doves and early season ducks.
Kinematic Drive Action
Kinematic Drive is a short recoil inertia design. The bolt and barrel use recoil energy to cycle the action, which keeps carbon out of the receiver and lets the gun run clean through a long day. Like any inertia gun, it needs the shooter to provide a firm shoulder to cycle reliably, so mount the gun properly.
Light 20 Gauge Receiver
At about 5 lb 10 oz this is one of the lightest semi auto 20 gauge field guns around. Light weight is great for carrying all day behind a dog, but it means more felt recoil with heavy 3 inch loads, so try the gun with the shells you plan to hunt with.

Cleaning and Care
Wipe down the barrel and receiver after a wet hunt and keep a light coat of oil on metal parts. Walnut does not like being stored wet, so let the gun dry before casing it.
