Description
The Taurus TH10 10mm is the full-size hammer-fired pistol in the Taurus range, catalogued as 1-TH10041. Fifteen rounds of 10mm Auto plus one chambered, a 4.27-inch matte stainless barrel, a matte black serrated slide, and a polymer frame with a Picatinny rail and interchangeable backstraps.
Fifteen rounds of 10mm is the number that stands out. Most pistols in this chambering are built on a 45-size frame and hold eight to ten, so the Taurus TH10 10mm carries half again as much of a cartridge that already hits harder than anything else in common service use.
MAG5 Firearms has it in stock. Handguns ship to a licensed FFL on a signed 4473, and we coordinate the transfer with your dealer.
What 10mm Auto actually gives you
- Substantially more energy than 9mm or 40 S&W, from a cartridge that runs at high pressure with a heavy bullet.
- Enough for wilderness carry against large animals, which is why 10mm keeps a following among people who spend time in bear country.
- Fifteen rounds plus one, where most 10mm pistols hold eight to ten.
- The Taurus TH10 10mm weighs enough and sits low enough in the hand to keep the recoil honest rather than punishing.
- Full-power 10mm loads and downloaded ones both exist, and the difference between them is considerable.

Why hammer fired suits this cartridge
- A long, deliberate double-action first press, which some shooters prefer as a margin of safety on a powerful carried gun.
- Single action for every shot after that, with a lighter and shorter press than any striker system offers.
- A manual safety and decocker, so the Taurus TH10 10mm can be carried hammer down or cocked and locked at the owner’s preference.
- The hammer position is a visual and tactile indication of the gun’s state, which matters more as the cartridge gets bigger.
- Interchangeable backstraps, so the grip can be sized to the hand on a pistol that will move under recoil.

One thing worth knowing about 10mm: the loads vary enormously. Everything is produced to the dimensional and pressure standard published by SAAMI, but a light practice load and a full-power hunting load are very different experiences from the same pistol, and the cheap stuff is often loaded closer to 40 S&W than to what the cartridge can do. Buy deliberately for the job. We stock HSM Training 10mm Auto 180gr for practice and Grizzly 10mm 180gr JHP for serious use.
The same hammer-fired action in 40 S&W is the TH40 Compact. For a striker-fired full size in 9mm, see the Taurus G3. Browse the rest of our semi-automatic handguns too.
Why the TH10 earns its place
- The Taurus TH10 10mm holds fifteen rounds of a cartridge most pistols manage eight or ten of.
- One of very few current hammer-fired 10mm pistols at anything like this price.
- A manual safety and a decocker, so the owner decides how it is carried rather than the design deciding.
- A rail and interchangeable backstraps included rather than charged for.
- Taurus backs it with a limited lifetime repair policy that follows the firearm rather than the original buyer.
This suits someone who wants 10mm for a reason: wilderness carry, hunting backup, or simply preferring the cartridge. The Taurus TH10 10mm is also the obvious pick for a shooter who wants a hammer gun and a manual safety on a powerful pistol. It is a lot of cartridge for a first handgun, and anyone new to shooting would be better served starting on 9mm and moving up.
