Description
The Taurus G2S 9mm Stainless Slide (model 1-G2S939) is a slim, single-stack carry pistol with a matte stainless steel slide over a black polymer frame. It holds 7+1 rounds of 9mm, has a 3.26 inch barrel, and ships with two 7-round magazines.
Taurus G2S 9mm Stainless Slide Overview
The G2S is the single-stack sibling of the popular G2C. It keeps the same striker-fired action with restrike capability, a manual thumb safety, a loaded chamber indicator and a fixed front with drift-adjustable rear sights, but it trims the grip width for concealed carry. At around 20 ounces it is light enough for pocket-adjacent carry in an appendix or small belt holster. The stainless slide resists holster wear and sweat better than a coated carbon steel slide, and it gives the pistol a two-tone look.
Built for Concealment
A single-stack magazine makes the grip thin, which hides well under a T-shirt. The trade-off is capacity: seven rounds is a lot less than the 10 to 15 rounds of current micro-compacts. Carry a spare magazine, and decide for yourself whether thin and simple outweighs capacity.
Trigger and Restrike
The trigger has noticeable take-up and a longer reset than premium carry guns, which many owners accept at this price. The restrike feature lets you press the trigger again after a light strike, though the correct response to a dud in training is still tap, rack and reassess.
Manual Safety
Taurus includes a frame-mounted thumb safety. It is small enough to be overlooked by people who do not want it, but if you carry with it engaged, practice sweeping it off on every draw. Never rely on a safety in place of a holster that fully covers the trigger.
Recoil and Practice
Small, light 9mm pistols kick harder than larger guns, and new shooters notice it. Start with standard-pressure 115 or 124 grain range ammunition, then confirm that your chosen defensive load feeds reliably through both magazines. Use +P only as the manual allows.
Value and Support
The G2S is one of the most affordable carry pistols from a major maker, and holsters and magazines are easy to find. Taurus has improved quality control over the last decade, and its limited lifetime warranty transfers with the gun.
State Laws and Ownership
Pennsylvania has no handgun roster and no magazine limit, and a 7-round magazine is legal in every state. The G2S is not on the California roster, and some cities and states add permit or purchase requirements of their own. Check local rules and confirm with your receiving FFL before ordering.
