The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus RMSc comp is the 4.25-inch compensated double stack with a direct RMSc optic cut rather than an adapter plate system. That one difference matters to anyone running a small carry-sized red dot, because the optic drops straight onto the slide with nothing stacked underneath it. Frame, slide and barrel are SUS416 stainless under a DLC black finish.

Direct cuts and adapter plates each have a case. A plate system lets one slide accept several optic footprints, which is useful if you expect to change red dots. A direct cut like this one removes the plate, the extra screws and roughly a tenth of an inch of height. That lower mounting position makes it easier to find the dot on the draw and keeps iron sights usable underneath. The Alpha Foxtrot Romulus RMSc comp carries reasonably at 7 7/16 inches overall, though a comp vents gas and noise sideways, so it is worth shooting before it goes on a belt full time.

Choosing Between Optic Cuts and Lengths

Alpha Foxtrot builds the Romulus in 3.5-inch, 4.25-inch and 5-inch lengths, in matte or polished DLC, with a direct RMSc cut or a MOS adapter cut, and with plain, threaded or compensated barrels. A compensator wants gas, so heavier bullets flatten the gun more than light target loads. A 124-grain jacketed hollow point is a sound defensive round and drives the comp well, with 115-grain full metal jacket for practice volume.
