Description
The Rizzini BR460 IPS 12 Gauge 30 Inch (model 5601-1230IPS) is Rizzini’s premium adjustable-rib competition over/under. It combines an adjustable rib, an adjustable Monte Carlo comb and a heavy, recoil-soaking build for trap, sporting and FITASC.
Rizzini BR460 IPS 12 Gauge 30 Inch Overview
The BR460 sits above the BR110 and BR240 in Rizzini’s competition range, with upgraded wood and finish and more weight. Rizzini lists the 12 gauge IPS at about 9.2 pounds. Receiver and barrels are finished in black Cerakote, the top rib is a 10x7mm adjustable ventilated rib with ventilated side ribs, and the gun ships with five extended chokes. The factory photos show the 32 inch version; this listing is the 30 inch.
Adjustable Rib
An adjustable rib lets you move the gun’s point of impact up or down without changing how you mount it. Trap and FITASC shooters often want a gun that prints high so the target stays visible above the barrels, while some sporting shooters prefer a flatter setting. The adjustment is mechanical, so set it at the pattern board rather than by eye, and recheck it after shipping or heavy use.
Weight and Recoil
At over nine pounds, the BR460 IPS is a heavy gun, and that is intentional. The mass soaks up recoil so you can shoot several hundred targets in a weekend without a bruised shoulder or cheek, and it keeps the muzzles steady. The cost is fatigue if you carry it all day or shoot from awkward positions. It is a competition tool, not a field gun.
Monte Carlo Stock
The Grade 2.5 Turkish walnut stock has a Monte Carlo profile with an adjustable comb, a pistol grip, round forend and a half-inch rubber pad. Factory dimensions are about 14 3/4 inches length of pull with 1 1/2 inch drop at comb. Use the comb to set your eye over the rib and the rib to set point of impact, and have a fitter check the result.
30 Inch Barrels
Most sporting shooters now buy 32 inch barrels, but a 30 inch BR460 has a place. It is quicker on close, fast targets and on the high, steep trap angles, and it suits shorter shooters who find 32s unwieldy. With 9.2 pounds of gun behind it, a 30 inch barrel still swings smoothly. The extended chokes change by hand and show which constriction is fitted.
Price and Value
The BR460 IPS costs well over the BR110 Sporter IPS and sits closer to the entry level of the big-name competition guns. In return you get better wood, a finer finish and more weight. Italian competition guns outside the top brands do not hold their value as well on the used market, so buy it to shoot rather than to trade, and register the warranty with Rizzini USA.
State Laws and Ownership
Owning a competition over/under is legal in every state, though the paperwork differs. New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois and Hawaii require a permit or license before a dealer can transfer it, and California processes every sale through its own background check and waiting period. Some clubs also limit shot size or require lead-free loads on certain fields to protect water and farmland, so check your home range’s rules before you buy shells in bulk.

Before You Buy
Federal law requires this shotgun to ship to a licensed FFL dealer, where you complete ATF Form 4473 and a background check before taking it home. You must be at least 18 years old to buy a shotgun from a dealer, and some states set a higher age or add a waiting period or permit.
