Description
The Rizzini BR240 Sporting 12 Gauge 30 Inch (model 3602-1230AC) is an Italian competition over/under with an adjustable comb, set up for sporting clays and skeet shooters who like a quicker 30 inch gun.

Rizzini BR240 Sporting 12 Gauge 30 Inch Overview
Rizzini designs the BR240 for shooters who have outgrown an entry gun but are not ready to spend on a premium competition model. In 12 gauge the factory lists it at about 8.4 pounds, with 3 inch chambers, five extended chokes and a ventilated rib. That weight is a good match for one-ounce and 1 1/8 ounce target loads and keeps felt recoil low across a 100-target round.
The BR240 Sporting Platform
The BR240 is Rizzini’s mid-priced competition over/under, built in Marcheno in Italy’s Val Trompia on a steel box-lock action with automatic ejectors and a single selective trigger. The current factory specification calls for a Cerakote black receiver with a gold BR240 logo, gloss blue barrels, a 10x7mm ventilated top rib and ventilated side ribs. Older catalog copy and some distributor listings describe a nickel-chrome receiver, but the distributor photos for this run show the black action.

Why a 30 Inch Gun
Thirty-two inch barrels dominate sporting clays, but a 30 inch BR240 is not a compromise for everyone. It starts faster on close, quartering and rabbit targets, it suits shorter shooters, and it doubles more naturally as a skeet or occasional field gun. If most of your targets are long crossers, consider the 32 inch version; if you shoot a lot of skeet or tight woods courses, the 30 is the better pick.
Adjustable Comb Stock
The “ADJ COMB” in the store title is the point of this version. The Grade 2.5 Turkish walnut stock has a comb you can raise, lower and shift so your eye sits exactly over the rib, which is how serious clay shooters set point of impact. Rizzini lists a 14 3/4 inch length of pull, about 1 9/16 inch drop at comb and 2 1/3 inch at heel, a pistol grip, rounded forend, 20 lines-per-inch checkering and a half-inch rubber pad.

Extended Chokes
The five extended chokes, Cylinder through Full, protrude past the muzzle so you can change them by hand and see which is fitted. On a 30 inch 12 gauge sporting gun, Improved Cylinder and Light Modified cover most courses; tighter chokes help on long station targets. Clean and lightly grease the threads every few hundred rounds so they do not seize, and never shoot the gun without chokes installed.
Fitting and Practice
An adjustable comb only helps if you use it. Plan on a session at a pattern board: shoot at a fixed mark from 16 yards, look at where the center of the pattern lands and move the comb in small steps until the gun prints where you look. Many shooters then pay a fitter to fine-tune cast and pad position. Write your settings down, because the hardware can shift if it is not snugged after travel.
State Laws and Ownership
Owning a competition over/under is legal in every state, though the paperwork differs. New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois and Hawaii require a permit or license before a dealer can transfer it, and California processes every sale through its own background check and waiting period. Some clubs also limit shot size or require lead-free loads on certain fields to protect water and farmland, so check your home range’s rules before you buy shells in bulk.
