Description
The Holosun AEMS EVO Green Dot is the green reticle version of the biggest window Holosun puts on a rifle optic: 1.26 by 0.98 inches of glass, a 2 MOA dot inside a 65 MOA circle at 540nm, half MOA clicks, solar failsafe, and a CR2032 rated at 100,000 hours. Part AEMS-EVO-GR.

Green Is Worth More On A Big Reticle
The Holosun AEMS EVO Green Dot emits at 540nm, almost exactly where human daylight vision peaks, so a green reticle reads brighter to the eye than a red one producing the same actual light. On a plain dot that is a nice margin. On a 65 MOA circle it is worth considerably more, and the reason is not obvious.
A ring that large has an enormous amount of illuminated area compared with a dot, so a ring bright enough to see in daylight throws a lot of light into your eye, and at that brightness the line gets thick and soft.
Because green reads brighter for the same output, you can run the Holosun AEMS EVO Green Dot several clicks dimmer than a red equivalent and still see the ring clearly. A dimmer ring is a thinner, crisper ring, and on a 65 MOA circle that is the difference between a usable reference and a glowing hoop.
The Honest Counter Argument
Green on the Holosun AEMS EVO Green Dot is not a free upgrade and we would rather you hear the other half from us. Against live grass, foliage and green painted steel, green is the colour that loses contrast and red would serve you better. Red emitters are also more electrically efficient for the same perceived brightness.
So the question is what you point the rifle at. Brush, timber, dirt berms, tan steel and cover: the Holosun AEMS EVO Green Dot is the right answer, and those are the backgrounds most rifles actually meet. Mown grass and green plate racks: the red version, which we stock alongside it.
One Hundred Thousand Hours
Holosun publishes 100,000 hours for the Holosun AEMS EVO Green Dot on a single CR2032, not the 50,000 that most of the range carries. That is eleven and a half years of continuous illumination.
Nobody runs a rifle optic continuously for eleven years, which is rather the point. Add Shake Awake, which sleeps the sight when the rifle is still and wakes it the moment the gun moves, plus a solar panel that runs the Holosun AEMS EVO Green Dot on ambient light if the cell dies or is removed, and the practical experience is that the battery stops being something you think about at all.
The Window Is The Reason To Buy It
The Holosun AEMS EVO Green Dot window is 1.26 by 0.98 inches, a genuinely large aperture, wider than it is tall, and on a rifle that changes how the sight feels rather than how it measures.
A big window forgives an imperfect position. Shoot from a barricade, from a rollover prone, from behind cover or simply in a hurry, and the head placement that a small optic punishes stops mattering: bring the rifle up and the reticle is already in the glass. The Holosun AEMS EVO Green Dot also gives far more peripheral view around the reticle, which is what lets you track a moving target or keep a stage in sight rather than looking down a tube.
Half MOA Clicks And Fifty MOA Of Travel
Adjustments on the Holosun AEMS EVO Green Dot move 0.5 MOA per click, where the category standard is 1 MOA. At a hundred yards each click shifts your impact half an inch, which means you can walk a group onto the bull rather than watch it hop across it.
Fifty MOA of total travel in each direction is generous enough for any sane mount height, including the taller ones people use to get a co witness on an AR. Paired with a 2 MOA dot fine enough to show your errors, this is a sight you can genuinely zero rather than approximately zero, and fine enough to stay useful behind a magnifier.
Weight, Said Plainly
The Holosun AEMS EVO Green Dot weighs 8.15 ounces with another 2.45 for the mount, in a body measuring 2.68 by 1.77 by 2.6 inches. That is heavy for a red dot and it is the price of that window.
On a duty or competition AR it is entirely reasonable and thousands of people run exactly this. On a lightweight build where every ounce has been argued over it is not, and a smaller enclosed sight would serve you better. We would rather say that now than after it arrives.
