Description
The Holosun AEMS EVO Red Dot is the biggest window Holosun puts on a rifle optic: 1.26 by 0.98 inches of glass, a 2 MOA dot inside a 65 MOA circle, half MOA clicks, solar failsafe, and a battery rated at 100,000 hours. Part AEMS-EVO-RD.

One Hundred Thousand Hours
Holosun publishes 100,000 hours for the Holosun AEMS EVO Red Dot on a single CR2032, not the 50,000 that most of the range carries. That is eleven and a half years of continuous illumination.
Nobody runs a rifle optic continuously for eleven years, which is rather the point. Add Shake Awake, which sleeps the sight when the rifle is still and wakes it the moment the gun moves, plus a solar panel that runs the Holosun AEMS EVO Red Dot on ambient light if the cell dies or is removed, and the practical experience is that the battery stops being something you think about at all.
The Window Is The Reason To Buy It
The Holosun AEMS EVO Red Dot window is 1.26 by 0.98 inches, a genuinely large aperture, wider than it is tall, and on a rifle that changes how the sight feels rather than how it measures.
A big window forgives an imperfect position. Shoot from a barricade, from a rollover prone, from behind cover or simply in a hurry, and the head position that a small optic punishes stops mattering: bring the rifle up and the reticle is already in the glass. The Holosun AEMS EVO Red Dot also gives you far more peripheral view around the reticle, which is what lets you track a moving target or keep a stage in sight rather than looking down a tube.
Two MOA Inside Sixty Five
The Multi Reticle System on the Holosun AEMS EVO Red Dot gives a 2 MOA dot alone, a 65 MOA circle alone, or the circle with the dot inside it. All three come from the same emitter, so switching never moves your point of impact and there is nothing to re-zero.
Close in the ring is the thing your eye catches instantly, which is what makes a large reflex sight fast in a way no specification explains. At distance the 2 MOA dot is what you aim with, fine enough that the reticle is not the limiting factor in your group and fine enough to stay useful behind a magnifier. Sixty five MOA is also a known angular size, so the ring on the Holosun AEMS EVO Red Dot doubles as a rough ranging reference against a target whose size you know.
Half MOA Clicks And Fifty MOA Of Travel
Adjustments on the Holosun AEMS EVO Red Dot move 0.5 MOA per click, where the category standard is 1 MOA. At a hundred yards each click shifts your impact half an inch, which means you can walk a group onto the bull rather than watch it hop across it.
Fifty MOA of total travel in each direction is generous enough for any sane mount height, including the taller ones people use to get a co witness on an AR. Paired with a dot fine enough to show your errors, this is a sight you can genuinely zero rather than approximately zero.
Automatic Brightness, And An Honest Word On Weight
Automatic brightness on the Holosun AEMS EVO Red Dot reads the light and sets the reticle for you, with manual control and lockout available when the scene misleads the sensor, which snow, a white wall or a headlight will all do. Eight daylight settings and four night vision settings cover a bright range through to passive aiming behind a PVS.
The number to know before you order: the Holosun AEMS EVO Red Dot weighs 8.15 ounces with another 2.45 for the mount, in a body measuring 2.68 by 1.77 by 2.6 inches. That is heavy for a red dot and it is the price of that window. On a duty or competition AR it is entirely reasonable. On a lightweight build where every ounce has been argued over it is not, and a smaller enclosed sight would serve you better. We would rather say that now than after it arrives.
