EAA Girsan MC14T California Solution 380 ACP 10-Round Tip-Up Pistol – Reliable Black 4.5-Inch

Description

The EAA Girsan MC14T California Solution is the compliance-minded version of Girsan’s tip-up 380: an all-black pistol with a 4.5-inch barrel, a 10-round magazine and a loaded chamber indicator, built to meet the requirements that restrictive states place on handguns.

EAA Girsan MC14T California Solution Overview

Girsan makes the MC14T in Turkey and EAA imports it. The California Solution keeps everything that makes the design appealing, including an aluminum frame, ambidextrous safety, accessory rail and a barrel that pivots open at the muzzle for loading, while limiting capacity to 10+1. It weighs about 1.4 pounds empty and measures 7.3 inches overall. Note that some store listings describe a 3.8-inch barrel; EAA specifies 4.5 inches for this model, MFG number 390852.

Easy Loading for Weaker Hands

Racking a slide is a real obstacle for many shooters, whether because of arthritis, injury or simply limited grip strength. With the MC14T you flip the barrel open, drop a cartridge into the chamber and close it, no slide manipulation required. The same feature makes unloading and chamber checks easy, which is helpful for new owners learning safe handling.

Ten Rounds and Compliance Features

The 10-round magazine meets limits in states that cap capacity, and the indicator gives a visual and tactile cue when a round is chambered. EAA markets this version for California buyers. Even so, roster status changes over time, so your dealer must confirm the specific model and SKU is currently listed before a sale in that state.

Shooting a 380 With a Real Grip

Tiny pocket 380s can be snappy, but this pistol has a full grip and a 4.5-inch barrel, so recoil is mild and sights are easy to track. The fixed contrast sights are simple and durable. The rail under the dust cover accepts a compact light for bedside duty. Because the barrel stays fixed to the frame when closed, the design tends to be accurate for its class, and the long grip lets you get every finger on the frame for better control during rapid strings.

Ammunition and Upkeep

380 ACP costs more than 9mm per round and premium hollow points can sell out, so stock up when you find a load your pistol feeds reliably. Clean and lube the barrel hinge area during regular maintenance, since carbon can build up around the tip-up mechanism. Full metal jacket ammunition is ideal for practice, while defensive hollow points should be tested through several magazines before you rely on them.

Honest Trade-Offs

The 380 is less powerful than 9mm, and this pistol is bigger than many 380 carry guns. Holster and spare magazine options are thinner than for mainstream American brands, and resale value trails better-known names. Shooters who need easy loading and a soft-shooting gun in a restrictive state, however, have few better choices.

State Laws and Ownership

Beyond California, the 10-round magazine works in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland and other capacity-limited states, though Massachusetts maintains its own handgun roster. Permit, waiting-period and registration rules differ widely. Pennsylvania buyers complete the transfer at a licensed dealer with the standard background check. Confirm current rules before ordering.
