Akkar 206 Clubman 12 Gauge Shotgun – Reliable 3.5″ Black Synthetic Over/Under with 5 Chokes

Description

The Akkar 206 Clubman 12 gauge is the least glamorous and possibly the most sensible gun in the Akkar 206 range. Catalogued as part number 111001, it strips the camo, Cerakote and walnut out of the equation and leaves you with a black synthetic over/under that swallows 3.5-inch shells, ships with five extended chokes and costs less than most of its stablemates.

What You Actually Get With the Akkar 206 Clubman 12 Gauge

There is a strong argument for owning one shotgun you are not precious about. Wood swells, fancy finishes scratch, and camo patterns are useless outside the season they were designed for. Plain black polymer does none of those things. This gun exists to be loaded, shot, thrown behind a seat and shot again, and the over/under layout means you always have two chokes and a visibly open action.

28-Inch Solid Rib Barrels and a 3.5-Inch Chamber

The barrels measure 28 inches with a solid rib, the all-purpose configuration for clays, dove fields and general hunting. A 3.5-inch chamber is unusual at this price and genuinely useful: it means the same gun that shoots cheap 2¾-inch target loads on Saturday can handle heavy waterfowl or turkey payloads when the season turns. Overall length is about 45 inches.

Mechanical Triggers and Automatic Safety

Mechanical triggers fire the second barrel whether or not the first shell went off, which matters with cold or old ammunition where an inertia trigger can leave you stranded. The automatic safety re-engages every time the action opens, a sensible feature when you are hunting with other people or handing the gun across a fence.

Five Extended Chokes, Ejectors and Sling Studs

Five extended choke tubes are included, covering skeet, improved cylinder, modified and improved modified constrictions, so you can pattern each barrel independently without buying anything extra. Ejectors clear the hulls quickly, and the parts to convert them to plain extractors ship in the box for reloaders. Sling studs and a recoil pad round out the durable polymer stock.

Balance and Carry

Because the polymer furniture is lighter than walnut, the Clubman carries a touch easier than the wood-stocked guns in the range, and the weight it does have sits between the hands rather than out at the muzzle. That makes it comfortable to hold at the ready in a dove field and quick to bring around on a close flush in heavy cover.

Who Should Buy It

Buy this if you want an affordable, weatherproof over/under that can shoot clays, doves, pheasants, ducks and turkeys without you worrying about the finish. It is a strong first double gun, a sound loaner for guests, and an easy recommendation for anyone who would rather scratch a cheap gun than an heirloom.

Set your expectations properly. Full 3.5-inch magnum loads in a two-shot break gun kick hard, so most shooters will stay with 2¾- or 3-inch shells for anything but turkeys. Capacity is two rounds, which limits you on decoying ducks. The polymer furniture is purely functional and looks it, and there is no engraving, figured wood or adjustable comb here. Anyone wanting a handsome gun for the safe or a fitted target stock should shop elsewhere in the range.

As a do-everything utility double, though, the Akkar 206 Clubman 12 gauge is hard to beat for the money. Browse more options in our firearms collection, or read the maker’s overview at Akkar USA.
