Description
The Howa M1500 Hogue 22-250 is a varmint rifle built on Howa’s forged steel action, with a 22-inch cold hammer forged barrel, a HACT two-stage trigger and a pillar-bedded Hogue OverMolded stock in green.
The Classic Varmint Cartridge
The .22-250 Remington drives a 50 to 55 grain bullet somewhere near 3,700 feet per second. That produces a trajectory so flat that inside 300 yards you barely think about holdover, and it arrives with enough velocity for dramatic, decisive terminal effect on coyotes and prairie dogs. Recoil is negligible, which means you can watch your own impacts through the scope. The Howa M1500 Hogue 22-250 gives that cartridge an action worth building on.
Cold Hammer Forged Barrel
The barrel is cold hammer forged, formed by hammering steel around a mandrel so the rifling is created and the bore work-hardened in the same operation. It produces a longer-lived barrel with a more uniform interior than button rifling. That matters especially in .22-250, which is a fast, high-pressure cartridge that is harder on throats than most. A better barrel simply lasts longer.
HACT Two-Stage Trigger
Howa’s Actuator Controlled Trigger is a genuine two-stage unit: a light, consistent first stage to take up while you settle, then a clean break. Varmint shooting is precision shooting at small targets, and the trigger is where most factory rifles let you down. At this price a two-stage trigger is unusual, and it is the single feature that makes the Howa M1500 Hogue 22-250 shoot to its potential in ordinary hands.
Three-Position Safety
The safety offers fire, safe with the bolt free, and safe with the bolt locked. The middle setting lets you unload safely with the trigger blocked, which is how a proper hunting rifle should work.
Pillar-Bedded Hogue Stock
Hogue’s OverMolded stock bonds rubber permanently over a rigid internal skeleton and carries the action screws on aluminium pillars. Those pillars stop the stock compressing under torque, which is the usual reason a synthetic-stocked rifle loses zero over time. The rubber surface grips reliably in wet or cold conditions, and the green finish blends better into field surroundings than black.
What It Is For
This is a rifle for calling coyotes, shooting prairie dog towns and clearing groundhogs off a pasture. Its flat trajectory forgives range estimation errors, its low recoil lets you stay on target through a string, and its accuracy makes small targets realistic. The Howa M1500 Hogue 22-250 holds four rounds in the magazine plus one chambered.

Who Should Buy It
This is a varmint and predator rifle first. Coyote callers, prairie dog shooters and anyone controlling groundhogs or foxes on farmland will get exactly what they need from it, and the two-stage trigger punches well above the price.
The Howa M1500 Hogue 22-250 is a specialist. The cartridge is not legal for deer in many states and is destructive on edible game, and .22-250 burns throats faster than milder cartridges under high round counts. No sights or scope are included.
Hunters wanting one rifle for deer and varmints should compare a 6.5 Creedmoor or .243, and high-volume shooters should consider a milder .223 in our catalog. Every firearm we list ships to your chosen FFL and is transferred in accordance with federal and state law.
