The Dan Wesson Specialist 9mm is a full size stainless 1911 built for people who use pistols rather than collect them. Dan Wesson forges the slide, machines an accessory rail into the frame, fits night sights and a detachable magwell, and finishes the whole thing in glass bead.
Dan Wesson Specialist 9mm Slide, Frame and Barrel
The slide is forged stainless steel with Dan Wesson inverted rib design along the top, which cuts glare and gives the sights a clean shelf to sit on. The barrel is 5 inches, the traditional Government length, and the whole pistol wears a glass bead finish that is far more forgiving of handling marks than a polished one.
The frame carries an integral 1913 Picatinny rail rather than a bolt on adapter, 25 LPI checkering on the front strap, and an undercut trigger guard that lets the hand sit higher on the pistol. The slide stop is recessed so laser grips fit without modification.
Sights, Controls and Grips
Sights are fixed night sights front and rear, with a green tritium front and a tactical ledge rear. That ledge is not decorative. It gives you a square edge to rack the slide one handed against a belt or a boot heel, which is a genuine consideration on a duty pistol.
