Grizzly 45 Colt +P 335gr WLNGC – Rugged Hard Cast Hunting Ammo

Description

The Grizzly 45 Colt +P 335gr WLNGC load, item GC45C+P14, is a 20 round box of 45 Colt +P ammunition from Grizzly Cartridge Company, loaded with a 335 grain hard cast wide long nose gas check bullet rated at 1200 fps with 1072 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Grizzly recommends it for hunting bear, deer and small game.

Grizzly 45 Colt +P 335gr WLNGC Overview

In a strong revolver or lever gun, the 45 Colt can deliver serious power, and this Grizzly +P load is built to unlock it. A heavy 335 grain hard cast wide long nose gas check bullet is rated at 1200 fps with 1072 foot-pounds of energy, putting it in 44 Magnum territory. Heavy hard cast bullets like this penetrate deeply and cut a full-diameter path, making it a strong choice for bear, deer and hogs, and for backcountry protection with a large-frame Ruger Blackhawk, Redhawk or a modern 1892 lever gun.

Bullet Design

WLNGC stands for wide long nose, gas check. It is a heavy hard cast lead bullet with a wide flat meplat and a longer nose profile, finished with a copper gas check on the base. The design favors deep, straight penetration and a broad wound channel on large, tough game, and the gas check helps keep the bore clean at higher speed.

Intended Use

Grizzly recommends this load for hunting bear, deer and smaller game. It also serves as a powerful backcountry carry load in strong 45 Colt revolvers. Because of its pressure level, it must only be used in the firearms Grizzly lists as suitable. It is not intended for urban self-defense, where over-penetration is a concern.

Firearm Compatibility

These heavy 45 Colt +P loads are intended only for strong firearms. Grizzly states they are safe in all large-frame Ruger revolvers, including the Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, pre-2005 Vaquero, Bisley and Redhawk, as well as modern Model 1892 lever actions and Winchester and Marlin 1894 rifles. Grizzly states they are not intended for the small-frame New Model Vaquero. Do not fire them in Colt Single Action Army revolvers, replicas, or other standard-strength 45 Colt firearms.

Grizzly Cartridge Company

Grizzly Cartridge Company is an American ammunition maker known for heavy, hard-hitting loads for hunters, outdoorsmen and handgunners who carry in bear country, along with cowboy action, defense and safari ammunition. Its loads are made in the USA, and many are built to run at the upper end of what each cartridge allows, so always match the load to your firearm.

Recoil and Shootability

Heavy 45 Colt +P loads produce substantial recoil, similar to many 44 Magnum loads. A large-frame revolver with good grips, or a lever-action rifle, makes them much easier to shoot.

Practice and Testing

Fire at least a box through your own firearm before you rely on this load for hunting or protection. Confirm reliable feeding and extraction, and check where it prints at the distances you expect to shoot, since heavy or fast loads often hit to a different point than light practice ammunition.

Storage and Care

Store ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original box, away from solvents and lubricants that can contaminate primers. Inspect rounds for dents, loose bullets or corrosion before loading.
