Description

A-Zoom 40 S&W StrikerCaps are orange aluminum dry fire trainers built for striker-fired pistols, two to a pack. They fix a specific irritation: a conventional snap cap flies out of the gun every time you rack the slide, and a StrikerCap stays where you put it.
What Makes A-Zoom 40 S&W StrikerCaps Different
The difference is an O-ring around the body. That ring grips the chamber walls, so cycling the slide to reset a striker-fired trigger does not eject the cap. You rack, press, rack, press, and never stop to hunt for it under the couch.
Underneath that they are ordinary A-Zoom construction: precision machined aluminum with a cushioned primer face that absorbs the firing pin strike instead of letting it hammer the breech face. One piece, nothing to come apart in the chamber.
The bright training orange is deliberate. A-Zoom 40 S&W StrikerCaps are not going to be mistaken for a live round by anyone, which is exactly what you want in something that lives in a chamber during practice.
Why Striker-Fired Pistols Need This
A hammer-fired pistol can often be reset with a thumb on the hammer. A striker-fired one cannot: the trigger only resets when the slide moves, which means every repetition ends with racking the slide. With a normal snap cap, that also means retrieving the snap cap.
Over a hundred repetitions that is a hundred interruptions, and interruptions are what kill dry fire routines. Keeping A-Zoom 40 S&W StrikerCaps in the chamber turns a stop-start exercise into a continuous one, which is why people actually stick with it.
There is a safety benefit as well. A chamber that always holds an obviously orange object during practice is a chamber nobody has to guess about, and the habit of seating the StrikerCap before every session is a useful ritual in its own right.

Field Notes
They are a trigger training tool, not a magazine filler. Because the O-ring holds them in the chamber, A-Zoom 40 S&W StrikerCaps are the wrong choice for feeding and extraction tests, where you want a round that ejects normally.
Most people keep both. A pack of StrikerCaps for trigger work and a pack of conventional snap caps for magazine checks covers two jobs that want opposite behaviour from a dummy round.
The O-ring and the primer cushion are both wear items. Replace a cap when the ring stops holding it in the chamber or the primer face no longer rebounds.
Running other calibers? StrikerCaps are stocked in 9mm and 45 ACP, and conventional 40 S&W snap caps are available for feeding tests. Construction details are published by A-Zoom.
For duty pistol owners doing serious dry fire with a striker-fired forty, A-Zoom 40 S&W StrikerCaps remove the most annoying part of the routine. MAG5 Firearms stocks them as manufacturer item PA17103 in the two pack.
