Description
The Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated Amber is a battery-free RMR with a 9 MOA amber dot, lit by fiber optics in daylight and tritium in the dark. Amber is the traditional dual-illuminated color, highly visible against green foliage and blue sky.
Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated Amber Overview
Trijicon part RM05 uses the forged aluminum RMR housing in matte black, with the patented shape that diverts impact forces away from the lens. Adjustments are 1 MOA per click and require no special tools. There is no battery, no switch and no auto-shutoff; the dot is always ready. This listing includes the optic only, with no mount.
Why Amber
Amber contrasts with natural green and brown backgrounds and with open sky, which is why it has long been popular with hunters and for offset backup sights on rifles. Some shooters see amber more crisply than red, especially those with mild astigmatism. It is a different look from green, so if you can, compare both colors before buying.
Fiber and Tritium Explained
A fiber optic collector on top channels daylight to the reticle, so the dot brightens automatically with available light. When it gets dark, a tritium lamp keeps the dot visible. The design has no electronics, which is why dual-illuminated RMRs are trusted as backup sights that must work without maintenance.
The Brightness Trade-Off
Brightness depends on light reaching the sight rather than the target. Standing in shade while aiming at a sunlit target can make the dot dim; bright light aimed into a dark room can make it bloom. Covering part of the fiber with tape is a common way to reduce bloom.
Tritium Lifespan
Tritium has a half-life of about 12.3 years, so night brightness gradually fades over time while daytime fiber performance remains. Trijicon covers the optic with a limited lifetime warranty and separate tritium terms.
Mounting
The RMR footprint fits countless plates and rail mounts, from pistol slides to 45-degree rifle offset mounts. Order the mount that suits your gun separately, and use thread locker and correct screw lengths.
Ordering and Transfer
When you order a firearm from MAG5 Firearms, we ship it to the licensed dealer you choose. Your dealer completes the ATF Form 4473 and the background check, and may charge a transfer fee. Local buyers can complete the transfer at our shop. Bring a valid ID, and check your state waiting period before you plan a hunt or a range trip.
Safe Storage
Store the firearm unloaded in a locked safe or case, with ammunition kept separately. A cable lock or trigger lock is a good backup, especially in a home with children or visitors. Keep the original box and paperwork, and record the serial number in a safe place in case the gun is ever lost or stolen.
Your First Range Trip
Mount your optic, bore sight it, then fire your first groups at 25 yards before moving to 100. Let the barrel cool between strings, and record your zero and the load you used. Wear eye and ear protection, keep the muzzle in a safe direction, and clean the bore when you get home.
