Trijicon SRO Red Dot Sight Black Superb 2.5 MOA

Description

The Trijicon SRO Red Dot Sight Black is the matte black 2.5 MOA version of Trijicon’s Specialized Reflex Optic. It is the configuration most people mean when they say SRO, and Trijicon positions it as much for rifles, carbines and target pistols as for a slide. Part SRO2-C-2500002.

An Optic That Belongs On A Rifle Too

Miniature reflex sights are usually discussed as pistol optics, but the SRO was designed with rifle and carbine use explicitly in mind. On a pistol caliber carbine, a rimfire, a competition rifle or a shotgun the large window is even more valuable than it is on a handgun, because your head position varies more.

Mounted on a flat top receiver at the right height, the Trijicon SRO Red Dot Sight Black gives you an almost frameless view of the target. For three gun, for steel matches, and for a rimfire trainer it is a genuinely excellent choice, and it weighs a fraction of what a tube sight does.

As A Piggyback Or Offset Sight

Because it is small and light, this optic is often mounted at forty five degrees alongside a magnified scope, or on top of one. Roll the rifle and you have an instant close range sight picture without touching the magnification ring.

The Trijicon SRO Red Dot Sight Black suits that role better than a smaller windowed optic does. An offset sight is used in a hurry, at an awkward cant, with your cheek in the wrong place, and that is exactly the situation in which a big window stops you hunting for the dot.

Manual And Automatic Brightness

Leave it alone and the optic reads ambient light and sets its own brightness. Take control and you have eight settings, two of them night vision compatible and six visible. Battery life runs beyond three years of continuous use at setting four of eight.

On a rifle that lives in a safe between matches, automatic mode means the Trijicon SRO Red Dot Sight Black is always at a sensible brightness when you pick it up. On a competition gun you will probably set it by hand for the conditions and leave it there.

Why 2.5 MOA Is The Default

Two and a half minutes covers about six tenths of an inch at twenty five yards and two and a half inches at a hundred. That is small enough to shoot precisely at realistic distances and large enough to find quickly under time pressure.

Trijicon also builds the SRO with one and five minute dots for shooters who want the picture tighter or bolder. If you are buying your first one and have no strong reason to go either way, the Trijicon SRO Red Dot Sight Black at two and a half minutes is the one to get.

Why Shooters Choose The Trijicon SRO Red Dot Sight Black

• Large circular window that suits rifles, offset mounts and target pistols
• 2.5 MOA dot, the most versatile size for general use
• Top loading battery, so no remount and no re-zero
• Automatic mode plus eight manual settings including two for night vision
• Matte black to match most rifles and pistols
• Uses the RMR mounting footprint

On A Slide, Honestly

Trijicon build the SRO to survive slide mounted use and it does. But the housing is deliberately thin so the window can be large, and it sits taller than an RMR. That is a poor combination for a pistol carried inside the waistband against your body every day.

For a competition pistol, a range gun, a target pistol or a home defence handgun that lives in a safe, the Trijicon SRO Red Dot Sight Black is superb and the extra height costs you nothing. For daily concealed carry, buy an RMR or an RCR and accept the smaller window.

Mounting And What Is Not In The Box

No mount is included. The SRO uses the RMR footprint, so RMR plates, RMR cut slides and RMR picatinny mounts all fit. On a rifle you will want a picatinny mount at a height that suits your cheek weld, and for an offset role a dedicated forty five degree mount.

Adjustment is one minute per click with a hundred and fifty minutes of travel, the housing is 7075-T6 forged aluminium, and the Trijicon SRO Red Dot Sight Black is rated for submersion to ten feet. Tell us what you are fitting it to and we will confirm the right hardware before it ships.

Who It Is For

Competition shooters running pistol caliber carbines, three gun rifles or open pistols. Target and bullseye shooters who want a clean dot and an unobstructed view. Rimfire shooters building a trainer. Anyone adding an offset close range sight to a magnified rifle.

The matte black finish is the default and matches almost everything. Trijicon also offers this optic in coyote brown if your rifle or pistol is tan or FDE, and that version is identical to the Trijicon SRO Red Dot Sight Black in every other respect.
