Description

The Credo is Trijicon competing on the modern low power variable formula rather than their own. The Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 MRAD FFP is model CR624-C-2900024: a 1-6×24 on a 30mm tube with a green MRAD segmented circle in the first focal plane, LED illumination with ten settings, and tenth MRAD clicks. If you have been running an AccuPoint and wondered why Trijicon does not build a conventional duty LPVO, this is the answer.

First Focal Plane and What It Buys You

The reticle in the Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 MRAD FFP sits in the first focal plane, which means it grows and shrinks with the image as you change magnification. The practical consequence is that every hash mark and every subtension is correct at every power setting. Dial to 3.5x for a moving target and your holds still mean what they say. On a second focal plane scope those same marks are only true at one magnification, which is a rule you can live with but have to remember under pressure.

The cost of first focal plane on a one to six is that the reticle is very small at 1x. Trijicon addresses that the way most designers do, with a segmented circle reticle: a bright broken ring that is large enough to catch the eye instantly at low power and unobtrusive enough at six power to leave the fine centre cross usable. Ten LED brightness settings let you run the circle hot enough at 1x to work like a red dot in daylight.

Field of view at 1x is 113.4 feet at 100 yards, which is genuinely wide and does a lot for two eyes open shooting. At full six power it narrows to 18.8 feet. Eye relief holds between 3.5 and 3.9 inches across the range, so there is room to mount it comfortably on a carbine without the eye box punishing you the way a prism does.

Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 MRAD FFP Specifications

Adjustments are a tenth of a MRAD per click with 29.1 MRAD of total travel, which is the correct pairing for a reticle drawn in MRAD. Matching your turret units to your reticle units sounds obvious and is still the single most common mistake people make buying a scope: a MIL reticle with MOA turrets turns every correction into arithmetic under time pressure. The Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 MRAD FFP keeps both in the same language.

Illumination runs from one CR2032 with a quoted 198 hours of life, and the housing is 6061 aircraft grade aluminium in matte black at 18.3 ounces. Exit pupil runs 0.47 inches at 1x down to 0.16 inches at 6x.

Honest Notes on the Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 MRAD FFP

Battery life is the weakest number on the sheet and it deserves naming. One hundred and ninety eight hours is roughly eight days of continuous running. Several competing low power variables in this bracket quote thousands of hours, and many now include a motion sensor that wakes the illumination when the rifle moves and sleeps it when it does not. The Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 MRAD FFP has neither, so it wants a deliberate habit: switch it off when you put the rifle down, and carry a spare CR2032 in the grip.

This is also a battery-dependent scope, which is worth saying on a Trijicon listing specifically. The fibre and tritium models this brand is famous for keep working with no power at all. The Credo does not. If the cell dies the reticle is still there as a black etched segmented circle and perfectly usable in daylight, but the bright daylight-visible centre goes with it.

First focal plane at 1x is a genuine trade. However well the segmented circle is drawn, a true red dot is still faster up close, and the reticle at 1x is thinner than an SFP reticle would be. Shooters who spend most of their time inside fifty yards may be happier with second focal plane or with a dot and a magnifier.

Twenty nine MRAD of total travel is fine for a carbine that works inside six hundred yards and tight if you are trying to stretch a 1-6x further than it was meant to go. On a flat base you will have roughly half of that usable above zero, so plan accordingly if you intend to dial rather than hold.
