Description
The Tokarev TX1 Pump 12 Gauge is a plain pump shotgun that arrives with sights most plain pump shotguns do not have. Tokarev USA part number 21000426. An 18.5 inch cylinder bore barrel, a 3 inch chamber, a black synthetic field stock, a recoil pad and swivel studs already fitted, and thirty eight inches overall.
What lifts it above the rest of the entry-level rack is the sighting system. A fiber optic front sight, a ghost ring rear and a Picatinny rail on top come as standard. On most shotguns at this end of the market you get a brass bead and nothing else. The Tokarev TX1 Pump 12 Gauge is the cheapest way we know to get a properly sighted defensive pump.
What the Tokarev TX1 Pump 12 Gauge gives you
- 12 gauge, pump action
- 18.5 inch barrel, fixed cylinder bore
- 3 inch chamber, so 2-3/4 and 3 inch shells both fit
- Fiber optic front sight
- Ghost ring rear sight
- Picatinny rail for an optic
- Black synthetic field stock
- Recoil pad fitted
- Sling swivel studs fitted
- 38 inches overall
Why a ghost ring 12 gauge pump is the sensible choice
- A pump action does not care what it is fed or how long it sat
- Ghost ring sights are faster than a bead and more precise with slugs
- A full stock puts recoil into the shoulder, not the wrist
- Cylinder bore is what buckshot and slugs both want
- Nothing on it needs a battery, a charge or a subscription

A ghost ring 12 gauge pump with a fiber optic front sight shotgun setup
Zanders records the Tokarev USA 21000426 with a fiber optic front sight, a ghost ring rear and a Picatinny rail. That combination is what you would expect to pay a great deal more for. A ghost ring is the fastest iron sight arrangement there is for a shotgun: the eye centers the front bead in the aperture without being told to, and at buckshot distances you are looking at the target rather than the sights anyway. The rail means a red dot goes on without gunsmithing.
An 18.5 inch cylinder bore pump shotgun with no choke tubes
The Tokarev TX1 Pump 12 Gauge barrel is fixed cylinder bore and no tubes are supplied or fitted. For a defensive shotgun that is the right specification: buckshot patterns predictably through a cylinder bore, slugs go where they are pointed, and there is nothing to lose in a drawer. It does mean this is not the gun for turkey or waterfowl, where a tighter constriction is the whole point.
Ammunition for the Tokarev USA 21000426
STARS 00 buckshot, nine pellets is the volume load for a Tokarev TX1 Pump 12 Gauge and we hold over thirty five thousand shells. Hornady Black eight-pellet 00 patterns tighter, and Winchester Super Match rifled slug suits a cylinder bore barrel exactly as intended. The chamber takes 2-3/4 and 3 inch shells.
Stock, recoil pad and sling
The Tokarev TX1 Pump 12 Gauge has a black synthetic field stock with a recoil pad and sling swivel studs already fitted, thirty eight inches overall. A full stock rather than a pistol grip means twelve gauge recoil goes into your shoulder where it belongs, which is the right answer for anyone who is not specifically after the shortest possible package.
The rest of the Tokarev shotgun line
The TSP12 is the other pump in the range beside the Tokarev TX1 Pump 12 Gauge. The TSA12 and TTS12 are magazine fed semi-autos with the same barrel length, and the TBP 12 bullpup puts the same barrel into a package ten inches shorter.
Worth knowing before you buy

- Neither distributor records a capacity figure for this part number. The listing says five rounds. Ask us and we will load one and count.
- No choke tubes are supplied and the barrel is not threaded for them.
- This model cannot be sold under the Illinois PICA.
Buy the Tokarev TX1 Pump 12 Gauge if you want a defensive pump gun with real sights and you would rather spend the difference on shells than on a badge. It is the plainest kind of firearm there is and it will still work in ten years with no attention at all.
