Tisas 1911 Carry B9BA 9mm Night Sight Overview

This is Tisas factory model 10100106. It shares the Carry series layout, a 4.25-inch barrel, Ed Brown-style bobtail mainspring housing, G10 sunburst grips, ambidextrous thumb safety and Series 70 internals, but adds tritium sights for low light. Overall length is 7.75 inches and weight is about 2.1 lb. Please note: our store title lists 10 rounds, while Tisas and its distributors specify 9+1 capacity with two 9-round magazines for this UPC. We describe it as shipped by the factory.

Why 9mm in a 1911

A 9mm 1911 combines the crisp single-action trigger the platform is known for with softer recoil and cheaper ammunition than 45 ACP. Follow-up shots are fast, and new shooters often find a 9mm commander easier to control than a polymer striker gun. One more round of capacity over a 45 is a bonus. The trade-off is that 9mm 1911s can be more sensitive to magazine quality, so stick with factory or proven aftermarket magazines.

Tritium Night Sights

The Novak-style sights carry tritium inserts that glow in darkness without needing to be charged by light. That is a real advantage for a home or carry gun that may be needed at night. Tritium does fade slowly over roughly ten to twelve years, and the dots can be harder to pick up in bright daylight than a fiber optic. For most defensive use, night sights are the better choice.

Light Aluminum Frame

The aluminum alloy frame keeps carry weight down compared with a steel 1911. In 9mm, recoil remains mild even with the lighter frame, so the alloy trade-off is less noticeable than in a 45. Steel frames still last longer under very high round counts, so keep the recoil spring fresh and inspect the rails during regular cleaning.

Bobtail and Holster Fit

The bobtail cut reduces printing under a shirt and makes inside-the-waistband carry more comfortable. It does require a holster made for a bobtail commander frame; most custom kydex shops and several mass-market makers offer one. The G10 sunburst grips provide good purchase without chewing up clothing.

Carrying a Series 70 1911

Series 70 internals mean no firing pin safety, which gives a cleaner trigger but makes the manual thumb safety and grip safety your main protections. Train to sweep the safety off on the draw and back on before reholstering. Run at least a few hundred rounds of your chosen defensive load before carrying, since 1911s can be picky about hollow point profiles.

State Laws and Ownership

Handgun rosters in a few states restrict which models can be sold, and some jurisdictions limit magazine capacity or require specific carry permits. The 9-round magazines are compliant almost everywhere. Check your state and local rules before ordering.
