Description

The Raging Hunter 460 10.5-inch is the long-barrel end of the range, and it is closer to a carbine than a sidearm in how it is used. An exposed stainless barrel runs out of a black anodized shroud that carries a full-length Picatinny rail on top and accessory rail sections along the front, and it finishes in a large slotted muzzle brake with the front sight mounted on it.

Five rounds of .460 S&W Magnum, a matte stainless frame and a matte black oxide cylinder. This is a scoped hunting revolver, bought to be carried in a chest rig or a scabbard and shot off sticks.

What the long barrel buys you

  • Velocity. The Raging Hunter 460 10.5-inch barrel gets far closer to the .460 S&W cartridge’s potential than any short revolver does
  • Sight radius, and more importantly a long stretch of Picatinny rail with room to position a scope where your eye actually is
  • A large slotted muzzle brake at the end of the exposed stainless barrel, which is what tames this cartridge
  • Front sight mounted on the brake assembly and an adjustable rear, so it is usable with irons if the optic fails
  • Forward rail sections for a bipod adapter, a light or a rangefinder mount
  • The same three-cartridge cylinder: .460 S&W Magnum, .454 Casull and .45 Colt all chamber and fire
  • Cushioned rubber grip with a soft insert, which on a Raging Hunter 460 10.5 build is still doing real work

Raging Hunter 460 10.5 in. two-tone revolver with muzzle brake and Picatinny rail

How this differs from the short Raging Hunters

  • The short guns use gas expansion ports cut into the shroud. This one uses a proper muzzle brake instead, and the shroud is solid
  • A brake is more effective than ports and considerably louder. Everyone on the line will know when you fire it
  • Weight is up substantially, which helps recoil and hurts on a long walk. A chest rig is not optional at this size
  • The Raging Hunter 460 10.5 is not a carry gun by any definition. It is a hunting tool and it should be bought as one
  • Scoped, the Raging Hunter 460 10.5 is a genuine hundred-yard handgun on deer, hogs and black bear
  • Feed it .45 Colt for practice. A box of .460 costs more than most people want to burn learning the trigger

The .460 S&W Magnum is a standardised cartridge with chamber dimensions and pressure ceilings published by SAAMI, and it is the reason this cylinder also accepts .454 Casull and .45 Colt: the three share a case diameter and step down in length. Do not read that as a power ladder, though. A hot .454 load will outrun a mild .460 hunting load.

One thing to plan for before you buy. A 10.5-inch revolver with a scope on it needs a chest holster or a scabbard, and neither is cheap or easy to find off the shelf. Budget for one at the same time. A Raging Hunter 460 10.5 that lives in a range bag because there was nothing to carry it in is a waste of a very capable gun.

Why this revolver earns its place

  • The most velocity the .460 S&W cartridge will give you out of a revolver
  • A muzzle brake rather than ports, which is the more effective of the two
  • Rail space to mount a scope where it actually suits your eye relief
  • Three chamberings from one cylinder, so the Raging Hunter 460 10.5 can be practised with cheaply
  • Stainless frame and black oxide cylinder that handle wet weather better than blued steel
  • A hundred-yard handgun for anyone who wants to hunt with one rather than a rifle

Handgun hunters, guides, and shooters who want to see what a revolver cartridge can really do with enough barrel behind it. Nobody should buy the Raging Hunter 460 10.5 as a general-purpose handgun; bought as a scoped hunting rig, it is one of the most capable things on the shelf.

If this is more barrel than you want, the 6.75-inch .460 and the 5.12-inch two-tone are the carrying lengths.

For more cartridge at the same barrel length, the 10-inch .500 S&W in black and the 10-inch two-tone are the next step up. For less recoil and cheaper ammunition, the .454 Casull Raging Hunter covers two of the three cartridges this one chambers.

Every Raging Hunter we ship comes with the factory case, the manual and a lock. Transfers go to your FFL and our end of the paperwork is done the same day.
