Description
The Taurus GX2 Tan 13 Round is the compact GX2 in a tan polymer frame with a matte black slide over it. Thirteen rounds in the magazine, fourteen with one chambered, a 3.37-inch barrel, and a short Picatinny rail moulded into the dust cover for a light. It is not a complicated pistol and it is not trying to be – it is the least expensive way Taurus sells a double-stack 9mm that works.
Part number 1-GX2931T, UPC 725327636960. Three in stock, and Sports South is currently out, so this is the shelf stock rather than a special order.
What you get with the Taurus GX2 Tan 13 Round
- 13+1 capacity in 9mm Luger
- 3.37-inch matte stainless steel barrel
- Matte black serrated stainless steel slide over a tan polymer frame
- Picatinny rail section under the dust cover for a light or laser
- Fixed three-dot sights
- Striker fired with a trigger safety blade
- Textured grip panels front, back and sides

How it shoots, honestly
- The Taurus GX2 Tan 13 Round pairs a 3.37-inch barrel with a full-size-ish grip, and that is a good combination – the grip is what you actually control the gun with, and the GX2 gives you all of it
- 13+1 out of the Taurus GX2 Tan 13 Round is competitive with pistols costing half again as much
- The trigger is a long, fairly heavy striker pull with a definite break. It is not a match trigger and nobody is claiming it is
- The sights are fixed three-dot and the rear is drift adjustable. There is no optic cut on this version – if you want one, look at the TORO models
- At this weight and barrel length, standard-pressure 9mm is comfortable. +P is noticeably sharper and there is no reason to practise with it

A note on the colour
The tan on the Taurus GX2 Tan 13 Round is the frame polymer itself, moulded through, not a sprayed coating. That is worth knowing because it means a scratch or a gouge does not show a different colour underneath – it is tan all the way through. Cerakoted frames on other guns do not behave that way. The slide is separately finished in matte black, so the two-tone look is by design rather than by wear.
9mm Luger chamber and pressure specifications are published by SAAMI, and any ammunition from a recognised maker will be loaded to them.
The rest of the GX2 range
If your state caps magazine capacity, the same pistol is available as the GX2 Tan in 10 round. In other finishes there is the plain black GX2, the stainless slide version and the grey frame. If you want a red dot on it, the GX2 TORO in FDE is the optic-ready build in a similar colour.
Why the Taurus GX2 Tan 13 Round earns its place
- 13+1 of 9mm at a price that leaves money for ammunition, which is what actually makes someone a better shooter
- A full grip you can get three fingers on, rather than a micro that pinches
- Moulded-through tan that will not wear off the frame
- A rail, so a weapon light is a fifty dollar decision rather than a gunsmithing one
- Only three in stock and the distributor is out
This is a first pistol, a truck gun, a range gun for someone who does not want to worry about the finish, or a spare. It is not a carry-optimised micro and it is not a duty gun. Taurus builds it to a price and the places they saved money are visible if you look for them – the trigger, the sights, the general finish quality on the slide flats.
What they did not skimp on is the part that matters: it feeds, it locks up, and the grip fits a normal hand properly. For what the Taurus GX2 Tan 13 Round costs, that is a good trade, and it is the reason these keep selling.
