Description
The Tanfoglio Hexagon Tactical 10mm FDE is a full-size steel pistol with an integral single-port compensator, built in Italy on Tanfoglio K frame and chambered in 10mm Auto with 15+1 capacity. Retail listings give a 4.45 inch barrel.
Tanfoglio Hexagon Tactical 10mm FDE Overview
Introduced for 2025, the Hexagon Tactical takes the CZ 75-derived Tanfoglio design and adds a built-in compensator. Tanfoglio cuts a hexagonal port through both the slide and the barrel just ahead of the front sight, so gas vents upward to fight muzzle rise. The barrel is turned from a Lothar Walther bull barrel blank, the steel frame carries a Picatinny rail, and thin aluminum grip panels keep the grip slim. The finish is flat dark earth Cerakote, and the importer lists the weight at about 44.75 ounces. The importer site now shows this model under the Heptagon Tactical name.
A Compensator That Makes Sense in 10mm
10mm Auto has real recoil, and a heavy steel frame plus a ported barrel make it far more manageable. The port reduces muzzle flip so the sights return faster. The trade-offs are more blast and noise to the sides and top, carbon on the front of the slide, and a flash signature in low light that a plain barrel would not have.
Sights and Optics
A micrometer-adjustable rear sight sits on a removable base. Take that base off and an optic plate goes in its place, so you can run a red dot without milling. The front sight sits behind the port to stay clear of the gas. Confirm which plate fits your preferred dot before you order one.
DA/SA Controls
The pistol uses a traditional double-action first shot and single-action follow-ups, with an extended beavertail and a firing pin safety. Front and rear slide serrations help with manipulation. If you mostly shoot single action, you can carry it cocked where the safety configuration allows, but read the manual first.
Ammunition and Use
10mm ammunition costs more than 9mm and comes in widely different power levels, from mild range loads to full-power hunting loads. Run a few hundred rounds of the load you plan to use, because a compensated barrel can change how the slide cycles with lighter loads. Many owners see this pistol as a woods gun or a range gun.
Weight and Carry
At close to three pounds empty, this is not a light carry pistol. Holster choices are limited for a comped Tanfoglio, so plan on a custom or chest-rig holster for field use. In return, the weight keeps 10mm recoil soft enough for long range sessions.
State Laws and Ownership
Pennsylvania has no magazine capacity limit and no handgun roster, but the sale still runs through a licensed dealer with a background check. The 15-round magazines are restricted where 10-round limits apply. Several states, including California, Massachusetts and Maryland, keep handgun rosters, and imported Tanfoglio models are rarely on them. Check your state and local rules, and confirm with your receiving FFL that it can transfer this pistol, before you order. Some states treat compensators and threaded or ported barrels as features in their own laws, so ask your dealer if you live outside Pennsylvania.
