Description
The Swampfox Raider Micro Prism Green BRC is a compact 1x prism sight with an etched Bullet Rise Compensation (BRC) reticle with green illumination. The Raider is a 1x prism sight, not a red dot. Its reticle is etched into the glass, so it stays visible as a black reticle even with the illumination turned off, and shooters with astigmatism often see it more clearly than a projected dot.

Swampfox Raider Micro Prism Green BRC Overview
Swampfox catalogs the Raider as a 1×20 micro prism with about 3.5 in of eye relief and a 15mm exit pupil. It weighs about 7.7 oz and measures about 2.6 x 2.1 x 2.3 in on the low mount. The body is die-cast zinc alloy, the lens is fully multi-coated, and windage and elevation adjust in 1 MOA clicks with about 90 MOA of total travel. The lens has anti-fog, hydrophobic and anti-scratch coatings, and the sight is parallax free at typical shooting distances.
The Reticle
The BRC (Bullet Rise Compensation) reticle has dedicated holds for 5, 10 and 15 yards on an AR-15, where the bullet strikes low at close range because the sight sits above the bore. It also has a 50/200 yard zero point. Because the reticle is etched, it stays usable as a black reticle even if the battery dies.

Power and Brightness
It runs on one CR2032 battery with a maximum rated life of about 35,000 hours. Ten brightness settings include two for night vision, six for low light and indoor use, and two for daylight. Shake N Wake turns the illumination off after about 225 seconds without movement and brings it back at the last setting as soon as the rifle moves.
Mounting
The Raider uses the T2 footprint with a Picatinny clamp, and Swampfox includes both a 1.1 in and a 1.6 in mount with titanium screws, so you can set it low for a shotgun or rimfire or at AR height for a carbine.
Built Tough
Swampfox rates this sight IPX7 waterproof and tests it for hard recoil. The company backs its optics with a limited lifetime warranty, and many Swampfox sights carry extra coverage on the illumination. It is a lot of sight for the money.

Why a Green Dot
The human eye is most sensitive to green light, so a green dot often looks brighter and sharper than a red one at the same setting, especially in daylight. Many shooters with some red color weakness also find green easier to see. In very dark settings a dim red dot can be a little easier on night vision, so think about where you shoot most.
Zeroing Tips
Most rifle and shotgun shooters zero a red dot at 50 or 100 yards, depending on the gun and how it will be used. Start at about 25 yards to get on paper, then move back and fine tune. Fire small groups before each change, and confirm zero with the ammunition you plan to use.
Battery Care
Replace the battery once a year on a defensive gun, even if the dot still looks fine, and keep a spare in your range bag. Wipe the lens with a soft cloth or lens pen, not a shirt tail, to keep the coatings clean. If the dot seems dim or flickers, check the battery and contacts first.
