Standard Switch-Gun 22 LR 22 WMR Stainless Overview
Standard Manufacturing, of New Britain, Connecticut, builds high-quality firearms in the tradition of Connecticut’s historic gunmakers, from classic single action revolvers and 1911s to innovative designs like the DP-12. 22 revolver that folds into a compact, pocketable shape. Revolvers remain popular because they are simple to operate and very forgiving. There is no slide to rack and no magazine to seat, and a misfire is cleared by simply pulling the trigger again. The trade-off is capacity and reload speed, so a few speedloaders or moon clips are worth adding.
Practice the double action trigger pull regularly, because a smooth, steady press is the key to accuracy with any wheelgun.
Design and Features
It has a stainless finish, a five-round cylinder and a unique folding frame; combo versions include 22 LR and 22 WMR cylinders. For carry, choose a holster that covers the trigger guard and holds the cylinder snugly, and practice reloading with speedloaders or speed strips until the motion is smooth. Keep the cylinder and forcing cone clean, since lead and carbon build up there first, and inspect the timing occasionally by watching the cylinder lock up as the hammer falls.
Handling and Carry
It is a compact, fun backup and trail gun.
Trigger and Controls
The single action trigger is crisp once the hammer is cocked.
Sights and Optics
The factory sights give a clear, quick sight picture, and an optic-ready slide (where fitted) lets you add a red dot whenever you are ready.
The 22 LR/22 WMR Cartridge
The 22 LR is the most affordable cartridge to shoot, with almost no recoil and little noise.
Setup and Accessories
Pick a holster made for your revolver’s frame size and barrel length, and add speedloaders or speed strips so you can reload quickly.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner’s manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the revolver and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner’s manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the breech face and slide rails. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
