Description

Smith Wesson PC M2.0 Full Size Carry Comp gray and black ported optics ready full size 9mm pistol

The Smith Wesson PC M2.0 Full Size Carry Comp is the full-size Performance Center M2.0 with a ported Carry Comp barrel and slide, a tuned trigger and an optic cut, shipping with five magazines. It is one of the most complete factory packages Smith and Wesson sells.

Smith Wesson PC M2.0 Full Size Carry Comp What the PowerPort Actually Does

The Carry Comp PowerPort is a port cut through the top of the barrel and slide that vents propellant gas upward. Gas pushing up counteracts the muzzle rising, so the pistol tracks flatter and returns to the target faster between shots. This is measurable on a shot timer rather than a marketing claim.

On a full-size frame the effect compounds. You already have the weight and the sight radius of a service pistol, and the porting takes what little muzzle rise remains and cuts it further. The Smith Wesson PC M2.0 Full Size Carry Comp is genuinely one of the flattest-shooting factory 9mm pistols available.

Porting is a genuine trade. Venting gas and flash upward is more noticeable in low light and from a retention position close to your face, it adds carbon-fouled ports to your cleaning routine, and it costs a small amount of velocity. On a range and competition pistol most shooters take that trade without hesitation.

Trigger, Optic Cut and Magazines

The trigger is flat faced with a Performance Center tuned action. A flat face gives your finger a consistent contact point every press and the leverage stays the same whether you sit high or low, and the PC tuning gives a cleaner break than the standard M2.0 trigger. Together they are the reason this pistol shoots as precisely as it does.

The slide is optic ready and cut for a red dot, in a gray Armornite finish over the black frame. Sights are a blacked-out rear paired with a serrated front, and the 18 degree grip angle gives a natural point of aim for shooters coming from other modern service pistols.

Five magazines come in the box: three 17 round and two 23 round. That is an extraordinary amount of magazine capacity to include, and it covers everything from a range session to a full competition stage without a separate purchase.

Four interchangeable palmswell grip inserts let you tune the circumference to your hand, which determines whether the pistol returns to the same place after each shot.

Shooting the Smith Wesson PC M2.0 Full Size Carry Comp

Fit the grip insert before anything else. Shoot a magazine with the medium insert, then try one size larger and one smaller, and watch whether the sights return to the same point after each shot rather than judging how the grip feels standing still. The correct insert is the one that lets the pistol come back on its own.

Recoil is remarkably flat. Between the porting, the full-size slide mass and the grip texture, the sights barely leave the target. Shooters splitting attention between a dot and a target find this makes a real difference: less movement means less time waiting for the dot to settle before the next press.

The tuned trigger rewards deliberate practice. A cleaner break with a shorter reset means the mechanical limit on how fast you can shoot accurately moves well past most shooters, and the improvement shows up first in the second and third shots of a string rather than the first.

Setup and Maintenance

Mount an optic with the correct plate and screws, torqued to the optic manufacturer specification and secured with thread locker. A dot that shoots loose is the most common failure on an optics-ready pistol and it is entirely preventable. Check the screws periodically, particularly on a ported gun.

Number your magazines. Five is enough to run a match, and being able to identify which one dropped a round is what lets you retire a problem magazine rather than chasing a phantom fault in the pistol.

Cleaning takes more attention than a plain-barreled pistol. The ports collect carbon faster and benefit from a nylon brush and solvent every range trip rather than an occasional deep scrub. The Armornite finish helps, since fouling releases more easily from it than from bare steel.

Why Buyers Choose the Smith Wesson PC M2.0 Full Size Carry Comp

Five magazines is exceptional value. Three seventeens and two twenty-threes would cost a meaningful fraction of the pistol price bought separately, and it means you can run a competition stage or a long range session without reloading between strings.

Twenty three round magazines are not legal everywhere, and neither are seventeens in some jurisdictions. Check your state law before ordering.

A tuned trigger and a ported barrel fitted from the factory are the two upgrades most owners of a standard service pistol end up paying a gunsmith for. Having both already done is worth more than the price difference suggests.

Who Should Buy It

The Smith Wesson PC M2.0 Full Size Carry Comp suits competition and range shooters who want a complete package: USPSA and steel challenge competitors, anyone running a red dot on a full size pistol, and shooters who would rather spend on ammunition than on magazines and gunsmithing.
